2 inch kooks LTH for 6th gen camaro

I’m sure there’s been threads on this but I can’t seem to find the answer I’m looking for.

I need some help with the installation. I got the stock header and cat out on the drivers side. I’m trying to slide the headers up from under the car but it’s not fitting. I’m pretty sure I need to loosen the motor mount and lift the engine slightly higher to slide the header in place. So with this being said I have a few questions:

1. Has anyone installed it without lifting the engine? Has anyone been able to slip it into place from the top of the engine?
2. I need some help locating the motor mount. I attached some pictures. Is the circled bolt the one I need to loosen? If not any pictures would be great.
3. Where is the proper location to lift the engine? I plan to use a jack. Can I lift the engine from the oil pan? I would use a hockey puck to cushion it.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Is the aluminum brace really still on the car?

Don’t touch the motor mounts. You should be able to get it in from the bottom.

Yeah its still there. Were you able to install 2 inch kooks headers without lifting the engine? You can get away with it for the 1 7/8 but looking at the 2 inch headers theres no way.

I installed 2” headers from underneath but had to remove the cross member brace. Had issues at first too until I removed it.

I've done 2 inch LT's on a Zl1 and an SS, you're gonna have to take that aluminum undertray/brace off and take the steering shaft out too. There should be no reason to mess with the motor mount.

Ok thanks. This is what i thought at first also but i guess for the 2 inch headers some manufacturers make them differently so you have to lift the engine a little bit. Were your headers by Kooks?

I really had no problems getting the headers on at all. Probably 20 minutes tops.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. Best of luck getting them installed! Where in Mass are you?

Hey OP, I think Mr Joshinator is telling you to take your engine out so the header install will be easy

Good one Mr Joshinator. What headers are those? Nice and clean!

Yeah the engine got dropped out to do the forged pistons and Mast heads a few years back. Definitely the time to do the headers lol!

Headers are 2” Dynatech. I like them since they are American made and stainless steel but don’t believe they make them for late model Camaros anymore unfortunately. I had them ceramic coated prior to install.

I had the Dynatech supermaxx system... headers and Y pipe with a magnaflow catback on my 98z28. Great system and was pretty expensive for back then.
