Also, I think I know one of those guys running 9’s with a stock, untouched, A8 that has never shuddered or given any problems over nearly 6 years of use.
Still can't figure out why so many were bad and some never had a prob from any year. My 2019 C7 was made after the fluid change but the trans was made before that date so it had shudder right away. Car never felt right on power as well and had the rear end warble. The 2015 C7 i have now runs and nite and day better on power and never had anything done to the A8.

I tuned out any torque converter slippage as soon as I could…but that’s something I would do if I owned an A10 too though.

^^^ this is exactly the meme I was talking about. "Night and day", you gotta be kidding, they are about the same with a good tune. My A8 shifts perfectly, it's just that dang big rpm drop when shifting to 5th that hurts the quarter mile time. Anyone is welcome to drive their A10 down here, we'll swap cars for a drive and see how much better the A10 actually is, if at all. Anyway, I promised to leave this alone and now I shall do just that.

I would also say nite and day better with the first A8 i had as it was f-ed up the day i drove it off the dealer lot i knew something seemed wrong as the lag was so bad. But with the A8 i have now in my 2015 C7 i say this trans is as good as any A10. I gotta wonder if my car was tuned before i got it. It just rips and gets. Car runs so good i have not done any mods yet.

This is my take on it as well.

The A10 was a clear difference over my A8 but ONLY because my A8 was messed up. When I first had it and it was running just fine, the difference would be pretty minimal. Both performed excellent when the A8 was performing properly. Honestly had it not had the issues it did, I may have not upgraded to to my current Camaro, and certainly not as quickly as I did.

A6 vs A8 vs A10

When I first got my 2016 1SS, I still owned my 2013 2SS, so a buddy and I took them to LVMS and raced them against each other. My buddy is a former professional racer and the A8 smoked the A6 2SS by over a second. It was so bad that I asked him if he messed up on launch or something. He then took the 1SS and I took the 2 SS. Same result. He couldn't believe how fast the A8 went through the gears. Fast forward to this week. I got a new 2SS. I have spent the weekend taking turns taking each of them to run errands, visit my folks, etc. The A10 shifts so much smoother than the A8. The power just comes on. The A8 definitely sounds cooler as it blips through the gears. I'll post again when I get a chance to take them to Midnight Mayhem to get actual 1/4 mile times.

I'm on the fence about getting a new SS with the 10 speed or getting a 2018 SS with the redline package (like my RS had) or the hot wheels package. I do prefer the looks of the 2018 and prior 6th gens however, it feels like I might be missing out on the better drivetrain if I don't get one with the 10 speed. Below are my questions.

Is there a big difference in the feel of the transmission?
Is the 10-speed actually faster? If so, is it significant?
Which one is better in the low end and which one is better at the top end?
The M6 is faster ....jokes apart, if you can, get the HOTWHEELS!!! Has so many niche touches and alcantara throughout, the interior is seriously a piece of art!! also......my hotwheels might be coming up on sale soon with a brand new engine installed....will let you know at what dealer if you are interested.

My A8 in my 2015 C7 was perfect and was never touched. Too bad the cane flooded the car. Now i gotta go find something else.

I have not owned an A8 only the A10 but the A10 has been the best Auto I have had in a car. I am interested in how much horsepower and torque the A10 can handle though for future purposes down the road.

I had two and they were nite and day. New 2019 C7 was the worst car ever and my 2015 C7 never had a prob. Shame the flood got it as you can kinda see the water line. That water from the gulf came in so fast everyone got trapped in the hood and we had 100's of flooded cars.

SS A10 (10L80) can handle less power than the A8 (8L90) as delivered from GM. The ZL1 A10 (10L90) has the same torque capacity rating as the A8. All three transmissions can handle significant power stock assuming the tune is correct and even more power when built. As hot rodders were pretty darn lucky.
