Got mine today... a winner!

Better throttle response using all eight cylinders all the time. Slightly more engine/exhaust sound at low speed and a need to ease up to avoid tire spin. It may cost me a little more gas but sure worth it.

Asked this once before, don't recall getting a direct answer, so I'll shoot again

Is a Range useful/helpful on a v6 1/2/3LT Camaro?

Depending on how you define useful I’d say that it is.
If you want full access to your full power at all times and want
to eliminate wear and tear on your lifters it’s definitely worth it.

this is what I was looking for. Just wasn't sure if it was helpful on the LGX, thanks

Anytime. I think you’ll love it when you go up your first hill and you don’t hear the engine trying to steal back the power from AFM mode. It drove me nuts.
From a V8 or V6 standpoint, you don’t upgrade your exhaust just to have it sound like a Ford Pinto after you reach cruising speed.
I MIGHT have kept the stock exhaust if I had bought the Range sooner.

The lt1 valvetrain is way different than the lgx. 4 cams over the valves vs 1 cam pushing sticks. I don't know that lgx has afm problems.

Also, for what it's worth, the LT4 in the ZL1 has the AFM tuned out from the factory.

Thank you mistermarauder! That's exactly the point that I've been trying to get across. Either tuned out or with the range, it's the same result. The internals are still there but same result.

So, has anyone had a Range until fail on them? I was heading to our Camaro Club Car Show yesterday and was flipping through the screens and noticed my car as in V4 mode! Initially, I thought perhaps the BCM update disabled something in the OBD port that was preventing the Range unit from working any longer... Gothome and sure enough, none of the light on the Range unit were working with the ignition on or off... Unit was just about 5 years old...

Ordered a new one on Amazon and took it for a test drive today, stayed in V8 mode the whole time so fortunately it was just a failed Range unit...

Its pretty easy to turn it off in the tune with hp tuners.
I could see the VLOM solenoid eventually failing and letting pressure bleed into the lifters. It will more than likely be misdiagnosed as a lifter failure and the entire cam and lifters will be swapped out.
Watch videos on cutting vlom seals. If anything you can understand how it works in more detail. If the lifters can never have oil pressure on the top of them then they wont unlock. There are mountains of information on the subject but unfortunately there is just as much misinformation. I was sitting just short of 260k on my silverado that had DoD with the stock lifters, with no lifter failures.

Nice, but my comment was regarding the Range AFM Disable device failing (stop working and therefore letting the car go into V4 Mode)...

I ended up buying a new Range AFM Disabler and am back to V8 only mode, but was just surprised that the 5 year old Range unit failed...

Maybe it's made in China since radioshack is out of the question.
Where does it plug in?
