Have had one on our '17 2SS for just over a year now.
No issues at all, and no more going into V4 mode.

You might add A8 or M6 to your profile so we know.
M6, and only a CAI and axleback for mods

I had one of the worst lag issues Mike from Soler ever tried to deal with I believe, so it's still not 100%, possibly surge coming back and I'm sick of it, especially when I get to drive my friends C7, and the throttle is perfect, ugh.

If you have M6 (manual transmission), then you don't have AFM

My 09 G8 GT had a stuck lifter due to the AFM. So I would recommend disabling it on the camaro's.

How often do people legitimately run into this lifter problem with the AFM? It seems like GM probably wouldn't want to do a ton of warranty work for free over an easily solvable problem...

That'a what I'd like to know. GM uses this AFM on both Camaros and trucks and possibly other cars and if there were a lot of lifter fail it seems like they would have discontinued it and they haven't to my knowledge. I am debating on getting a Range for my 2011 Camaro SS but I already have worse gas mileage that most here, city highway combined as low as 12.9 to a high of 15 with mostly 13. I am not a hard driver either and on the highway the best I have ever gotten driving 70 was 23 but usually get 19-20 if I drive with flow of traffic at 75-80. So Losing 1-2 mpg is a big deal to me. Also having to repair my engine would be a big deal too. I am retired on disability. I only have 62,000 miles currently with no issues. Do I need to get the Range now before something happens? I had one well know you tube tv show tell me I needed to do a top engine delete, new lifters and a heads off job that a tune or afm disabiler wouldn't do it. Also that if I added headers it would not improve or make up for the mpg loss of the tuning out the AFM. I always heard headers would help not only with slight incresase in HP but would help with slight mpg 1-2 increase on a car or truck. Thoughts on any of this ? I would appericate it, my car is long out of warrenty and I really don't want to get rid of it because its such a nice car and has been problem free in the 4 years I have owned it.

I had no concerns until I saw a Camaro waiting for service when on a visit to the dealership that had a failed lifter. I tracked down an experienced mechanic who said this was the first Camaro he had seen with the problem but said he had worked on several Suburbans with the issue.

When I questioned him regarding avoiding this issue he recommended regular changes using 0W40 and to consider blocking the frequent switching with DOD.

So I have ordered a Range device to stay in 8-cyl mode.

I'm hitting close to 1 year before even hitting the mileage on my oil, roughly getting 2,000 to maybe 2,500 miles on an oil change (at most)... However, I do also have the Range device installed and will leave it installed, I don't give a crap about gas mileage on this car as this is my "fun" car... If I'm getting too many miles per gallon I'm not having enough "Fun per Gallon"!!!

Lest we forget, the manuals have the same motor,. The only difference is the AFM is deactivated .So it's like running a Range in permanent mode.

However, they still have the same crappy lifters... They just aren't being "activated"...
