Yes it was a bargain in terms of lap times but that’s not what people dropping 75k on a muscle car want/wanted. It had to compete with the zl1 which had more power for less money and rode nicer, GT500’s and hellcats which had a ton more power and appeal to the typical muscle car buyer at that time wanting to drop 50+k on a camaro/mustang or challenger.

Now we are in different times and the Z/28 fetches a nice premium.

What cratered the Z/28 sales was they released it simultaneously with the Z06. People talked tough about owning a track car,but for roughly the same price most sprung for the vette which had more power, cup holders and USB ports. It also rode a little more comfy

Because most dealers finance the cars on their lot, when they sit for a long time the carrying cost makes it more likely that they'll send the car to auction instead of waiting for the right buyer. The accounting factor is not insigificant particularly for smaller dealers.

Alternatively, a good amount of dealers will keep "special interest" vehicles on their lot for promotional purposes for use in local parades or for employee enthusiam and such, which is why you may see some hold-overs. Although they're on the lot and show in inventory, the dealer isn't interested in selling immediately...

I can’t imagine many folks spending 50+K on a car want an NA V6 only making 335 HP. They are going to have to discount those cars more. That’s what I spent on my 23 2ss 1le. The LFX is a great engine but I can’t imagine paying 50+k for one.

54k is more then 10k over what I paid for my SS 1LE.

So glad I didn't pass up on the '23 and order a '24 I probably wouldn't have got (They didn't make many 1SS 1LE CE M6's, did they?)

I get what you all are saying, but that is the going price of a 2024. We all paid less for previous years' 2SS and even ZL1s. But a CE ZL1 this year cost upwards of 90K...

My dealer wouldn’t take a penny off even though my family had bought cars from them before. I know my salesman did try but no dice.

I mean, I was gonna buy it anyway even with no discount but this ain’t the pre-covid days where you could order anything with any options and still get $5k-$10k off sticker without trying hard.

There are not many left now (the coupes that is). I am having to travel from TX to NC to get an LT1 with nothing special about it, and the dealers have added a lot of accessories, paint sealant and other items to mark up the prices. Verts are a different story.

All dealerships were super greedy with the 24 1le I paid 56k for mine which is sticker and they screwed me around before I drove six hours they were going to give me employee pricing if I financed through them because I had a local bank that was giving me 5 1/2 percent loan they said they could match and didn't come close to it. But it's all good I love the car just all dealership in covid forgot how to treat a customer it would be like walking in to McDonald's asking for a big mack and they say sorry you will pay this and only get a quarter pounder

The sign of a great car, being sold for much more in it 7th &8th year of production basically unchanged from its first year. There were some great deals on 6th Gen in the middle years. I got my 21 lgx v6 for less than 29k out the door , new. There was a new shock lt1 on the lot then for 33k on sticker. Shame the inferior mustang sold better.

Agreed, I feel special driving around my Maro in a sea of lifted trucks, crossovers and the many different versions of Challengers running around. Even Mustangs are rare to see nowadays, at least in this part of the country.
