The original post, by the way, says the EPA's position is that street cars conversion into race cars must not be allowed, so your "take it to the track" statement is hollow.

Normal people don't give a crap about defeating emissions, so IMO practically nothing would happen if enforcement agencies like the EPA simply turned their focus towards issues that actually matter instead of showboating against the 0.1%.

I like my 4 cats would not take them off. Everything after them is changed, I love it this way. I had a focus St and put a catless down pipe on it. It ran a little better 5-6k rpm and sounded better but it was not worth the smell. I like ic cars but I like them better when they run cleaner.

I pulled the cats off my 02 camaro and switched to E-85 and never felt a bit guilty about it. Every once in a while, it might smell like a day old beer briefly but that was it. I'd like to see emissions exemptions for any vehicle converted to E-85.

As far as rolling coal, yea, its irritating but seriously, a modified vehicle does this for what, an average of a few minutes per day? The environmental impact isnt even measurable. If anyone cares to do a little research, you will see that diesel particulate pollution was reduced over 90% by 2008 as compared to 1990.

The summit was reached as far as vehicle air pollution is concerned over 15 years ago. Really, we could go back to emissions standards from 1995 and be A-OK. Further, a very big reason L.A. doesnt have pollution like it did in the 70's is manufacturing left. If you doubt me, look at how China's air is. It looks like they transported 1970's L.A. to China.

Around 2002, I had to take my cousins to LAX to catch a flight. I was amazed how clean the air was! As a kid, I flew out of LAX in 1979 and my eyes watered from the burn of the smog when my dad took me to that airport.

As far as CO2 being a pollutant, thats an absurdity but some people will never be convinced just as I will never be convinced that it is.

Forgot about the EV’s not using brakes as much. So I guess that right there definitely helps tremendously with the brake dust emissions. Not sure what you mean by doing research about removing cats. I said in a different post I agree with keeping them on EXCEPT for the less than 1% of modded cars that make too much power and need them removed in order to prevent engine damage due to the cats getting clogged. I also doubt folks daily their 700+ whp cars.

So much love for this comment I am am engineer i only care about facts when last statement said I don't believe the facts that brake dust is worse for the environment which means you work on feelings just as I said lol but it's cool and where are your facts on disposal of lithium batteries on the environment not to mention if there is a car fire and it burns to the ground but you are probably right that is out of sight so who cares if it destroys the environment elsewhere it's not bothering me at my house lol. Further more have you every been to a place around power plants factories and all other money making businesses cars do nothing to the environment compared to all of that. I don't believe EVs are nearly as beneficial as many would like to believe. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to go into it.

I honestly don't know much about tire and brake dust either and never said anything about it other than EVs don't go through brakes as fast as ICE, but they do often go through tires a lot faster, but that depends on the driver and how the car is programmed to accelerate.

The topic of the thread is the EPA cracking down on modifying cars, and the fact their new policy is cars can't even be modified for track use using emissions exempt parts. No more "track use only" parts at all. So you can't covert any car into a race car. This happened because people break the law, businesses like COBB sell parts that encourage it, and the car enthusiast community is accepting of it... it's as simple as that.

The only sure thing i know is people still do it with zero cares because there is a way around all you have to do is know a mechanic and anything is possible and anyone modding there car to 700+ hp knows a mechanic so chances are this is going to change nothing. Perfect example of how you are able to easily bypass and break laws with zero care, and how it's socially acceptable. You're part of the reason why the EPA is cracking down. It's YOUR fault, not anyone else's. Not the libs, not the climate, not anything but the fact you break laws. When you can't buy parts to help you break laws anymore, and it also affects your friends who want to build race cars, look in the mirror instead of blaming others.
