JL audio stealthbox

I installed a JL audio stealthbox and wanted the installation to be as clean as possible. First I bought another side panel so I wouldn’t cut up my original for the installation. I tied into the amp with a T-harness and an ANC bypass cable from T-harness.com. I hooked the harness up to a Wavetech link DQ. I used a 1/4” hardboard to make a mounting plate for the amp on the opposite side of the speaker. The amp is a JL XD600/1 v2. There were some holes in the body that I utilized for mounting the amp board. I used some rubber expansion nuts that I shaved down to fit the body holes which when tightened expand and will not come out. This also gave me some vibration dampening when the amp is mounted. Overall I am very happy with the installation and with the trunk open you can only see the speaker.

Nice job - that looks awesome! I wish they would have made one for the convertibles. I would love to have an off the shepf option like that.

Thanks for posting. I'm going to have to take a closer look at this, that looks so clean. I would love to move my amp & sub out of the trunk area.

Any pics of the area where the sub is installed, with the side panel removed?

I just checked behind the side panel on my car. Other than using a JL Audio Stealth Box, I don't think much else will fit in there.

The amp is mounted behind the passenger side panel. There is an empty space by the rear seat.

Right, and I am definitely going to look into that. But I meant for a subwoofer behind the driver's side panel.

How much did you pay for that box? I can only find them for around $1500.00 and I'm sorry, looks great but that's definitely not worth $1500.

I shopped around a little. You can't buy the enclosure unloaded, without a cone, but there is (or at least there was) a version from JL for around $1200 with a cheaper cone in it.

The cheaper JL Audio SB-GM-CAM6G/12TW3 94633 vs

SB-GM-CAM6G/12W6v3 94632

I mean, that is a $900 subwoofer. $600 for a box. Doesn't seem that crazy. That is an amazing sub too.

There is a lot of room on the driver's side.

I like the StealthBox, and it's worth the price, but I'm wanting to put my amps in that recess instead. I haven't finalized the decision yet, but this is the fitment:

Acoustical treatments will go a long way in making that sub sound a lot better. The hollow cavities in this car are an awful platform for a sound system. I have all cavities filled with sound absorption, and metal surfaces treated with a combination of CLD then CCF over top.
