Hurricane Helene

Everyone ok? I hope all is good.

I have no power since 10am but mostly just leaves and branches at my house. The minor highway has a bunch of trees crossing the road and power lines.

We are doing fine down east. Just a few showers this afternoon. We are usually the ones in the cross hairs during hurricane season not the central and western parts of the state. Apparently the mountains have been hit really hard. Lots of flooding out there.

Hopefully your power will be back on soon. After Hurricane Floyd we didn't have power for 5 days and water for 4 days, so a few hours without power isn't all that bad, just inconvenient.

Power has been out since 2 am Thursday. Quite a few trees down. My driveway is .5 mile long , still has some trees across it. Lucky no property damage.

I see a lot of folks taking their boats out and going kayaking on the flood infested streets, be careful, gators out there be waiting for their meal....

Not a lot of damage here across the mointains either, some flooding but the power didn't go out. It seems we got fortunate this time.

Good to hear that you and eastern Tennessee didn't have a lot of damage. Apparently many places in the North Carolina mountains didn't fair as well. Flooding in and around Asheville and Boone and quite a few washed out roads. So many that NC DOT was requesting that folks in western NC stay home today and stay off the roads.

Asheville, NC and the surrounding area took a large hit from the floods, I saw footage from several places we visited before that are now devastated...

As mentioned, the TN/NC mountains got hit pretty hard. I'm in central NC, and it was pretty tame here, but I know plenty of people in out west and it's not pretty. Thankfully no friends or family hurt, but lots of damage and lots without out power and water.

We were in a beach house, 3 minute walk to the beach and rode out Beryl in Galveston, Texas this past Jul, and that being a 1, I can't imagine a "4".
