Smile Best Value All-seasons for SS - General Gmax AS-05 vs ----

I've been running General Gmax AS-05s on my 2018 Camaro 2SS for about 7k miles so far and they feel pretty mushy compared to my stock Good Year Eagle F1s.

I only switched to the all-seasons now that I live in Houston and it rains every other day so I can't leave the stock slicks without crashing.

I'm running the tires at 39-40 PSI up front and 38 PSI on both rears but it still just feels "soggy" around the corners and it makes me miss the massive lateral grip on the stock summer only Good year Eagle F1s in dry conditions.

Of course all-seasons come with a trade-off but I was wondering if there are any other mid range sets under 1000 - ish from continental, Pirellis, Bridgestone, etc. that can provide some more performance/traction without a massive hit price or durability? I think I spent around 900'ish for all 4 total. I was originally going to go for the Conti DWS 06's but they were sold out at the time due to supply chain issues.

I just got the DWS06+ installed yesterday based on number of people suggesting them. Tirerack has them on sale for $902+tax for a set in SS size (245/275). Had them mounted at Discounttire for and additional $96.

They will get noisy as hell as they wear down. Had to replace my fronts because it sounded like I had a bad wheel bearing but it was just the General tires I had on the front. Inexpensive tire but I run Bridgestone's now because I can get a good deal on them.

I think 38-40 psi is too high and may contribute to the noise.
I have both the General tires you have and BFG Comp 2 plus all-seasons. I prefer the BFG's to the generals.
I got both for about the same price because I wait for rebates. And both manufacturers run rebates several times per year.
Both these tires are quieter than the stock run-flats which came with my car. I measured SPL to confirm that.

When I ran an A/S I was really very happy with the BFG Comp2 (not the newest "+" version), I used two sets on a Mustang and then my 1LE before I switched to a winter performance tire.

The "+" was a minor tweak in the compound. I doubt you can find the non-"+" tires anymore. If you find them, they have been sitting around for maybe 3-4 years.

I probably have about 10,000 mi on my BFG's and they have plenty of tread left. I rarely drive them "hard."
This is a daily driver for me. Given the rain and winter temps in the 20's here in south jersey, these tires are far safer than the summer run-flats that came with the car. No question on hot summer days these tires will be "mushy" compared to summer tires. That's an expected trade-off.

At least when I was shopping, the Conti's were in a much higher price range than BFG's or Generals. You will find many members here who would call that their "go to" tire.
I have two sets of wheels. The set on the car is currently BFG. The Generals are on a rack in the garage.
With rebates from either tirerack or discount tire I ended up around $750 for each set of 4 tires (stock sizes for the SS). I got a shop up the road which charges about $90 to mount/balance 4 tires (a bargain).

I have the Michelin PS AS 4 and I love them. Rides nice and stays planted even in the rain.

At $1300+ per set, it isn't exactly a value option OP was looking for, though.

True, but you get what you pay for. Rubber is the last place I would cheap out. Just MHO.

Well, OP said under $1k, and I'm sure there are other usable options along this spectrum, fortunately there are many more choices than just some cheap crap and the PS4.
