Overwriting the tune every time you get out of and into the car? Having the thief crank the engine for minutes? I'm not a fan to be honest.

As far as fuel washout, maybe on the initial crank there will be a splash of fuel in the cylinders, we're talking measurable in milliliter's, it's not going to wash out the cylinders, not even close. After that initial squirt, there isn't enough vacuum draw against the injectors to syphon fuel out of the rail, and the mechanical pump won't build pressure if there isn't fuel being fed to it. That initial squirt at first crank is all that will be there. If there is spark present, it will get a little crap burn stumble out of that squirt and then you're just dry cranking. But if the fuel pump is feeding, then this is not the way to go. Maybe your car will still be there in the morning, but if they crank the shit out of it, before that battery dies you'll have enough fuel in your crank case that the cylinders are completely washed out. Provided you drop that oil before actually starting the car again, the car will likely turn over and run again, but there's going to be wear damage. My method, given enough time or if I was followed and seen activating my kill switch, a thief could eventually find my kill switch. But I have also re-wired and relocated my OBDII port. So simply breaking my window and plugging in will yield disappointment. And have fun completely removing my dash trying to find the port, lol. I think the OBDII relocation and a physical fuel cut-off switch makes things difficult enough for most theft events, most will give up and move on. Hell half or more will give up as soon as they reach down and find there isn't an OBDII port where there should be. Even if they had 10 minutes to spend finding the OBDII port while the alarm blares, then they would find the car doesn't turn over and have to find the kill switch. If they have my key and know where the kill switch is, I guess I'll be getting an insurance payout and a Shelby GT350 ![]() For people who park outside overnight, I do think this is a great alternative and very secure provided the fuel feed is actually off.

A no-crank scenario would be better, but that'll be a more elaborate and expensive anti-theft setup.

I didn't watch the video, but you have to load a tune each time? If so, it's the repeated loading of the tune that bothers me.
I've had an ECU brick before when tuning 14 years back. Hasn't stopped me from loading revisions on multiple platforms since, but I do have enough PTSD to not take the risk over and over for no gain. |

Not really. $109 - https://www.mobilistics.com/nostart-...p-immobilizer/ With that you can immobilize the starter or fuel pump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The starter is not the most sturdy as it is, heh. But, to be honest, this would only happen if someone is actually trying to steal the car, ie pretty rarely.Quote:
Now, while you can start the car anyway if this happens by going to the remote again, it seems the ECM/BCM tend to log various codes, which I'm not too happy about, especially since a few times this code was for invalid baro sensor data, which lit up the CEL, too. Never happens once I swap the stock relay back in, so I know it isn't the MAF sensor or anything else, the only culprit I can think of is the protection unit.

Yeah read a bunch, looks like a good deal. It's a cheap layer of protection in my book. I ordered one and a hardwire transmitter. It's like buying guns. Excited to get it, praying it never has to save my ass.

I hid the original relay in the car, so it's always on hand in case something goes wrong with the Mobilistics relay.

Will probably do the same. With this added layer, I'm feeling pretty good that the car won't be going anywhere short of being towed. Even with a programmed key, it'll kill 'em for time.

I will say this, in his video he shows armature thieves take 2 minutes and 19 seconds to steal one of these cars.
I've seen videos of how long it takes a real pro to steal these cars. And I assure you it is less than 30 seconds. How long do you think it will take these pros to setup a bypass or re-flash the system to remove the lock out? And it is a lock out that can cause damage to the engine. Its not a lock out if the engine cranks over. My 2 cents.
