Surface scratches on matte 1LE hood.....solutions?

Had some PDR work done last week on the hood and came out to see scratches all over the place from where he was working out the hail dings. They are not through the vinyl but really unsightly. Have you 1LE guys dealt with any products on the market that might take them out or am I screwed and needing to re-wrap it?

I'd just rewrap it, vinyl is soft and easy to damage.

It's pretty easy to DIY a regular satin or matte wrap, material costs will be in the $100 range, a shop will charge in the $500 range. There's also colored PPF available these days, which is far more durable than vinyl but costs more, also not that hard to install. Gloss and textured wraps like carbon fiber are much harder to install.

You will most likely have to replace it. If they are more like surface level scuffs you can try taking a heat gun to it but if the scratches are cut into the wrap at all then there’s no hope.

With the heat gun method be careful (and don’t substitute a heat gun for a torch) because if the surface gets too hot it will change the look of the wrap.

I took mine in for an oil change and the mechanic scratched my wrap. They tried to buff the hood, it looked horrible. I read that you're not supposed to wax the wrap material. In short I had a new wrap put on. Luckily they paid for it.

That's what I use. It's not a perfect fix, but does a good job. Looks better than it did.

VRP hides it a bit but will add a slight gloss to the matte

Matte can't be polished/buffed/waxed successfully without giving it a glossier look. If you like the matte, your only option is to replace.

If you don't mind some sheen you can hide it with various products

-your favorite wax (mine is Collinite)
-CARPEO PERL diluted 1:5 will give it a satin finish

Worst case scenario if you try the above and don't like it, strip with with alcohol a few times and dawn dish soap.

I had mine rewrapped and the roof done.

I installed stealth PPF on the hood to prevent problems like the ones you're having and because I hate rock chips.
