6 Vehicle Issues

I have a 2016 SS bought new from a dealer. It has been flawless.

Today, I opened my "mychevrolet.com" app and it showed "NEEDS ATTENTION" for the following:
- Engine and Transmission System
- Antilock Braking System
- StabiliTrak Stability Control System
- Air Bag System
- Emissions System

This floored me so I went online to Onstar and it showed my vehicle status as "All good to go", and the car drives like new.

I saw other posts listing the same issues, so I wanted to chat with a human.

I got an advisor and ran this issue by them and got an immediate response: the Onstar system needs troubleshooting, and perform the following:

To perform a troubleshooting on your vehicle, please follow the steps below:
1. Please turn your vehicle's ignition on for at least 2 minutes
2. Turn ignition off and wait 2-5 minutes (so data can be collected).
3. Once done, close the app and log back in

I did it, opened the app and everything is fine.

Nothing to do with the AFM disabler or anything else...FYI

I think a more reliable source of info on your car's health would be the OBDII port.

This goes for any issue reflected in the app that does not have a corresponding fault light or message in the car. It's not a car issue, it's a incomplete data to the app issue, and can happen once in a great while. The troubleshooting step offered by the OP fixed me up in the past too.

I saw someone post this to a facebook group, and while I was using the app successfully a day ago, I saw today that I got it too.

I'm guessing it's a more universal problem with their comms, server or app.

As others stated, mrtoner, you most likely have nothing to worry about if the check engine light or other warning lights on the dash aren't on, and any cheap OBD-II port scanner could confirm this.

This notification glitch is not uncommon, I had this happen several times until I unsubscribed from OnStar and GM "helpfully" turned off my app access after 5 years of owning the car.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the input.
I considered it odd since I had no CEL or other warning lights. I also had plugged in my OBD II scanner and came up blank, so I knew something was up.
Since so many others were reporting it, I still wanted to find the cause, and sure enough, it was a sync error in the OnStar communication.

How is the battery? Newer cars can do some goofy stuff if the battery is low or dying.

My app is showing the same issues. I knew there were no issues. Thanks for posting the fix.

The car wasn't the one doing goofy stuff this time, it was OnStar.

I get that, I say it because when OS pinged the car it might have sent hermagerbles back.

Lately, on all 3 of my GM cars, I have found that OnStar is not up to date on problems I can see in the vehicle, until many days later.

As for all these errors showing up at once, I agree that a weak battery is the first place to look. All these built in test sensors aka "BIT" are over-sensitive to voltage drops.

If your battery is more than a few years old, or if your car often sits for extended periods without a battery tender, or if you are new to a used car, getting a new battery is the thing to do.

Had the same issues with both Chevrolet's we own. It's onstar at fault. I'm seriously considering dropping service, especially after the incident of GM selling our data to others without our knowledge.
