Sorry about some of the pics being sideways, they aren’t that way in my phone.
Here’s a little rotation of your pics. Looks great!

Thanks, they are correct in my phone but whatever. Thanks for the help on the install I couldn’t have done it without your help. Now get your headers/mounts ordered! 😂

You’re welcome! Good times and I’m going to get to saving some money. Don’t let driven2excess know anything about this purchase. He will be all over me to get the install underway.

Best $169 I ever spent. I did get lazy though and try to do it without removing the spark plugs. Don't make that mistake.
What do upgraded mounts do?

If I'm attempting to DIY this, would that be a good investment?

If you do it from jack stands i measured from skid plate to floor and was 20 inches and i would say thats the minimum required. I could shave another hour or so off if i had to do it again.
I'm looking at 12 inches of clearance. 2 hours in. Do you think it's do-able?

little to no chance with only 12 inches

Understood. I just re-measured and yep, 12 inches.

I can jack up the front but it's extremely iffy. I wasn't able to get it any higher than 12 inches, and I figured at that point I might as well use ramps. I can't fit the jack and the stand underneath with the ramps there.

I do have one saving grace, although it is a horrible idea:

I can fit the jack in there and jack it up without a jack stand on one side. It will probably give me about 15-16 inches of clearance although the idea of being underneath a car with only a jack supporting it makes me uneasy. I would keep the ramps under there so I'm unlikely to die if the jack failed, but yeah.

My jack does not go up high enough for 20 inches of clearance and all the wood/hockey pucks won't get me there. Any ideas? I'm willing to try it with the 12 inches, just jack it up and hope for the best to fit the headers in then drop it back onto the ramps.

Right now I think my best bet is to see if I know somebody with a kickass jack that will give me the clearance I need for stands.

To slip the headers in from the bottom you have to angle them a certain way and it really needs about 20 inches minimum. I personally wouldn't do it without at least a half lift or quick jacks that will give you 3 feet of clearance.

Find a way to get more clearance before you start or you will be hating life trying to get the headers in. With 12 inches of clearance you will have to remove the starter and possibly jack up the motor depending on the header brand/size.

You also want a very secure way to raise the car. You have to shake the car a bit when you do some of the work with the exhaust and you don't want the car slipping off the jack stands or wood blocks.

i installed the passenger side from the top on my car. removed starter, dipstick tube, coolant reservoir and valve cover, pretty much everything on that side. the header fell in after that. my driver side went up from the bottom no problem.

How much clearance did you have for the driver side?

Yeah gotta get the car high on the jack stands. Driver side should be butter. The install should be 30/70 driver/pass from my recall

Got it. Any suggestions on hitting 20 inches of clearance? Jack won't go up high enough.

buy a jack that will or use spacers of some sort between the jack pad and lifting surface.
