Post Need help with tire size for zl1 non 1le track day

I’m going to track in charlotte and i need help with tire size because im not stock i make about 620-650 whp. On the manual says for track day i should use recommended 285/30/20 front and 305/30/20 rear but every since i got this car i always 315 in the back because last owner had it on so i thought it was the right size. Please recommend me tire size and brand/model, brake fluid, brake pads, or any mod that would help me. I know a lot people track these car and have a lot of knowledge.
This is for A10 2018 zl1 non 1le 20 inch stock rims

Thank you!

With an 11" OE wheel you really only can get in the 305/315, maybe 325 before you exceed what the wheel can do and in particularly the 325 could rub inside. Rather than trying to upsize width go better tire, an R variety of the SC3, a Cup2, 555GT2, I'm kinda of just brain storming the max summer or track tires in the 200tw category.
What tire is on the car now?

1LE and ZL1 use the same sizes, it's the ZLE that is different. I don't see the difference in 315 over 305. 10mm isn't going to win or lose an event IMHO.

305/30/20 is where I would go.

any of the 200tw tires that are DOT legal should be fine on street and track they're just not going to last long, at all. There was a thread titled like ZL1 high power street tires that had some great options listed there that might help ya.

Are you going to track it a lot, or just 1 or 2 times a year? Do you put on a lot of street miles?

If mostly a street car with lots of drive time and a couple of track days a year, I'd get another set of Conti's or Michelin 4s.

If it's a weekend street toy with a couple or more track days, I'd get a set of more-track-focused tires.

If it's a street car or weekend toy but with heavy duty track time, I'd replace your Conti's and then get another set of wheels with track tires, too.

Just get the OEM GY SC3s. Great track tires. You can get Michelin PS4S or similar if you won't be tracking it much too, but the OEM tires are better track tires and are what the PTM and ABS systems are tuned around.

Brake Fluid... Brembo HTC 64T

Brake Pads... Ferodo DS3.12. You can switch between these and OEM (Ferodo HP1000) without rebedding as they are the same brand.

Alignment... max out camber front and rear, zero toe front, slight toe-in rear.

Also make sure you have brake cooling deflectors on the front tension arms, if not a lot of people use the ones for the Caddy CT5V, they are huge.

Have you ever tracked a car before? Thats the main question.

You should take it slow if you haven't and go too deep into something that is beyond your skill.

Brake fluid? Motul 660 (get a pressure bleeder as well), use the OEM pads (but check yours to see if they're still servicable) and with tires....the OEM Goodyear SC3s are going to be what you should use (Yes the SC3r is better but the SC3 will do just as well and last a bit longer).

Using the SC3 you must understand that these tires MUST BE warmed up properly before they give you the grip they can deliver and their grip does not fall off. It will have cords showing and it'll still grip like glue. So don't go full out the first 2 laps, get them warm, especially since you're nearly ~90 more rwhp than stock.

I would try to do 285 or 295 front with 315 rear (because of that extra power).

Camber? Leave it as, especially if you're new or slightly experienced. You're out there to have fun, not try and set lap records at this point, right?

Alignment and brake pads are worth it for safety, performance and to save money, even for a beginner imo.

OEM pads last a few days vs 10-12 for DS3.12s and the 3.12s will not fade. Alignment both increases performance as well as wears the tires more evenly.

Hate to be THAT guy but in order to prevent any confusion for someone that isn't sure of stock sizes. Minor corrections to your statement, there is no such thing as a ZLE, that's a silly acronym for a ZL1 with the 1LE track package so when you say the 1LE and ZL1 use the same sizes, that is incorrect. The ZL1 has 20" wheels with 285/305 tires and the 1LE has 19" wheels with 305/325 tires.

Very fair point, but I think he meant the SS 1LE has the same sizes as a ZL1 (non-1LE). Confusing, but that's the way I think he meant it.
