Quad tips detail question

Forgive me for not browsing through the detailing section for this..........nobody ever looks there. I've been a bad Gen 6 owner the past few months and haven't given her the love she deserves. My tips are downright nasty and I'm hoping one or two of you Camaro Pro's can suggest a great product and/or method to get me tips shining again?

The little foam balls or cones that mount on a drill and some stainless polish. Assuming OE tips, stainless polish.

I use this stuff. It’s a great polish.

Tub O'Towels cleaning wipes for everyday cleaning, you get 90 pcs for $14-15 in each box. Works like a charm, just wipe the soot off (you may need to use several pieces), then finish off with a microfiber towel. Takes 30 seconds per tip, and you're good to go.

For the occasional polish job, I use Mother's Mag Aluminum polish with the cone shaped sponge glued to a drill attachment that WhiteMale mentioned above.

I'll either use Adam's Wheel and Tire Cleaner or simple green diluted 1:1 (haven't tried any weaker dilutions yet, it's just what I have on hand), along with a boar's hair brush for the outside of the tips and this brush for the inside: https://a.co/d/5jGWYYu

Here are a couple pictures to show how clean I can get them with this method.

I'm hesitant to use polish because it seems like these tips have a brushed finish from the factory and I don't want to ruin it. Can anyone confirm this or are my tips just scratched up lol

Your tips are scratched up, heh. This is why I just use those gentle wipes mentioned above and let the chemical do its thing instead of abrading the tips with a brush or another tool.

I use Adams All Purpose Cleaner for the soot, and Adams metal polish for the shine.

I use the eagle one never dull that was mentioned above, HOWEVER.....as a reformed OCD detailer, 12 step program and all...... keep in mind that they're just exhaust tips. You wouldn't forget to feed your kid, and you wouldn't neglect to take a shower for even a few days, but you didn't clean your exhaust tips for a few months. That's ok. Happens to all of us. They're just exhaust tips. No car care product you buy is going to do any damage.

Just clean them every time you wash the car is my advice. They will get dirty when you are driving it.

E85 helps significantly with the amount of soot on exhaust tips, by the way.

How long does it take you guys for soot buildup? I don't seem to have much in the way of soot buildup so far after 1 year/10k km. Mainly track mode exhaust. I've cleaned the tips maybe 5 times, just quick rag with soap/water. Certainly not with every car wash.

(Maybe it's a sign I need to punch it more...)
