toyo tires

have been waiting to buy some tires for my 23 1le and toyo tires came up-how are they in the rain as in Florida you never ever know if rain is coming? Have the factory Goodyears on it and it is scary in the rain even though the car has 1500 miles.

TIA
Mark

I assume you mean the R888R, if yes, you be the judge of that with this tread pattern... also, tread depth new is only 6.3/32nds and this is a tire with a 100 tread wear rating by Toyo, so you don't have much to begin with and it'll wear down fast, making its hydroplaning resistance even worse.

(I tried these for a few weeks and there is no way I would've tried to drive on them in the rain.)

I thought they were ok in the rain when new but by the time they got half worn, they werent good at all. The grip is fantastic on the street though. I always ran them with PS4's on the fronts. Noisy AF. Sound like a 4X4 mud tire.

I've got a slightly used set of Toyo R888R 345/19 with 3/32, 4/32 of tread I'll sell you.

Get real street tires that can handle the rain. Those Toyos are just as worse as the Goddyears in the rain.

Get something like the Michelin Pilot 4S. The factory tires take time to warm up get have the best grip but have no tread for the rain. Save those for the track, if you ever plan on going, or just sell them if you never will go.

How did you like them in the heat?

ZLE R888r front tires have been on national backorder for months.
No idea when they will be available.

They had good dry traction for street use, but as I said, I only had them for a short while because they were so noisy, so not much data to work with. The stock Goodyear 3Rs have excellent traction once warmed up, I don't know if the Toyos would be better, but I bet neither has anywhere near safe hydroplaning resistance.

Unless you plan to aggressively road race your car, the Nitto 555R2 is a better tire in almost every way.

Nobody road races with r888r lol most people would laugh at you if you showed up to the track with those

They are built for road racing was my point. The Nitto 555R2 isn't. The 555R2 provides all the straight line benefits of the R888R without any of the drawbacks.
