Failed GRANATELLI PLUG WIRE

Edit after phone conversation with sales manager:

GRANATELLI Reach out to me and wanted to resolve this situation. My take away from the conversation is GRANATELLI is a professional company that wants to take care of their customers. I will be getting a full refund on my one plug wire and hopefully shipping as well. Jorge Vasquez the sales manager stressed we should buy direct from GRANATELLI to get the full one year warranty. If we buy from a 3rd party it’s 60 days warranty. The failure I had is rare and GRANATELLI want to make it right with myself and anyone else that has an issue.

Ok I decided to get a set of GRANATELLI plug wires this spring. I noticed last week my car was surging, something was off. I cleaned the MAF, got a new air filter and still the same problem. I added new plugs along with the set of GRANATELLI wires. I narrow it down to the number 3 cylinder, it was breaking up. Pulled the spark, looked fine, added a new plug same problem. Switch coil packs and still the same thing. I decided to switch wires and that’s when I found the problem. It was the wire, but it looked fine, did a volt test and it failed. Took the wire apart and found out the brass connector had broken in half. How does that happen. I emailed GRANATELLI and didn’t get an answer right away, so I called them and they would sell me one wire and not warranty it. So I paid the $40 for the wire and $40 for shipping. (Ouch shipping cost)

Then I did get a email responds and I got my hopes up that they would warranty the wire. Then the next day they email me back and say because I bought the wire and it was already shipped it would not be covered. I thought what the heck! Because I bought the wire they would not warranty it. I called BS. It’s not a torn wire, the brass connector failed. I hardly drive my weekend toy so 60 days is hard to apply to my situation. 04/25/2024 is when I bought them, a touch over 90 days. It’s not the cost that pissed me off to write this it was there response of not understanding my situation.

Here’s GRANATELLI email response. What do u guys think should they have warranty the wire?

“Hello Kevin,

Thank you for reaching out. I’ve reviewed the situation, and unfortunately, we’re unable to issue a refund for the replacement wire since it has already been shipped.

Our standard policy includes a 60-day warranty that covers any issues with the wires. After this period, the wire is protected by a one-year warranty against internal defects. I am confident that

you should not experience any issues with the wire failing internally. If any such problem arises, we would need the wire returned for testing to identify the cause of the failure.

While a torn wire would be covered under the 60-day warranty, I regret that we are unable to process a refund as this time frame has passed.

In the future, please feel free to email me directly if you encounter any issues with our wires. I will ensure that my team promptly sends you a replacement at no charge.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Jorge Vasquez

They said there is a one year warranty but are not honoring it…that’s BS. File a charge back with your credit card and provide their email as proof of the one year warranty. That’s pretty crummy service in my opinion. I’m running those wires and have been very happy with them, but that doesn’t excuse this poor support.

Edit: Sounds like they came around.

id be upset after spending that much on plug wires and then getting some bs response as to why they can't replace it. especially if it is within their warranty time frames. seems strange. imho that's why you spend the money. get a better product, service & help.

edit: i ran those plug wires for years with no complaints. great product but doesn't excuse trying to duck a simple wire replacement or at least covering shipping or something to help out. disappointing.

You could repair it. Crimp a new terminal on there and be done with it.

I was looking in my tool box and even on Amazon, I could not find the same pattern the goes into their boot to the coil pack. I could have macgyver it but when u pay top dollar for a set of wires I would rather get a new one. For the time being I threw on a stock plug wire.

This is really great news, and I’m glad they did the right thing. I bought mine direct from Granatelli (nearly $300 for friggin plus wires lol) so glad to hear they’re not bad people.
