Rear Quarter Window Adjustment?

My driver rear quarter window does go up as high as the front window. Looks like it stops about 1/2" short. It's not bad enough to leak water but is annoying on the highway with the windnoise.

My passenger windows goes up so they are even.

Is this an adjustment? Or will the assembly need to be replaced?

I haven't been able to find anything online about this. Hoping to get some insight before I hand a blank check to my dealer LOL

This sounds like a simple window recalibration. If you want to do the check and recal, you will need a bi directional scan tool. The windows are controlled by the BCM and you will need to put the vehicle into service mode in order to work the windows. From the BCM you can reset the windows. Keep in mind if you do this, once in Service mode, all modules are active and drawing power. Good luck with it and i hope it helps you.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Any recommendation on an affordable bi-directional scan tool that would do this?

I had to do this with my Wifes 2018 Terrain, her front drivers window was going all screwy by opening and closing and boy did i hear about it. As for a recommendation, I really cant say as there are many out there and many at different price points. The one i use is the VCX Nano, which includes the Dealership Software GDS2. It was roughly about 180 bucks Canadian but it works very well. There are some things you would need to work around to get it to work which is not the fault of the tool but rather Some eager beaver virus software that intrudes on your laptop. Amazon sells it. Launch and Autel both now sell a GM only version that is Bi directional and will perform all module special tests which is what resetting windows will be.

I noticed in my last post that i mentioned virus software, I meant to say 'ANTI Virus Software that is on our laptops prevent the installation of two files that allow this particular scan tool to run. Sorry i did not mean to give the impression that there are virus's that you should run if you bought this scantool, otherwise no issues with any other type.

Thanks for the clarification OBD3 - I had noticed that and figured that's what you meant once I saw the comments on Amazon.

I'm leaning towards Launch since it's cheaper than Auotel and I won't need to use my laptop (battery is so old it's essentially a desktop LOL)

I'm considering the Launch X431 - have you had any experience with that one?

They have a GM only one for about $120 but was considering for an extra $80 it covers Ford and Chrysler as well. I have ForScan for my Ford truck already but was considering it in case I wound up with a Ram truck....

Sorry for the delay in response, i do hope you have solved your window problem. You asked about the X431, and yes its my main scanner for alll others except GM which is the VXDIAG Nano. There are different versions of it and mine is the V3 which will do all OBD1 and OBD 2 systems. In fact the case comes with all connectors for everything OBD1, Japanese and German, it was pricey about 999 canadian dollars but all in all a good system and the Autel is good as well since they are the same units but in different packages. One thing to watch for if you do buy the Launch, depending on the upgrades you may only have two free years but you can still use it. You do have to log in once a month in order to check in as it were, its really a chance for them to sell you the upgrades once yours is expired. If you take it somewhere after your free updates and you did not log in, it will tell you and wont let you use it until you do.
If you get the unit or other units and you get a Ram, you need to have the Stellanitis Computers recognize your computer as safe otherwise they wont unlock the Body Control Module and other modules for you to do the Bi Directional tests. Google it and find out what you need to do. GM and Ford are also going in this direction, with GM no longer providing Helm with New Factory Service Manuals. You now have to pay for them as a subscription depending on how long you want. If there is anything you need to know about the scan tool let me know.

Guess better late than never but...
I finally got my 2024 LAUNCH Creader Elite fit for GM Bi-Directional Scanner.

I setup/updated the scanner and found online to hold the start button down for 5 seconds to get the car into service mode.

What's the best way to get to the BCM? Do I go with OBD II or Diagnostics or ???

I've got the car on a tender to fully charge the battery before I plug in the scanner to try the window recal...

Any ideas? The manual is a waste of paper LOL

Congrats on your purchase. Holding the button down without touching the brakes and having an eye on your battery are both smart moves. On the Launch it will give you the option of doing a VIN check automatically, allow that and the VIN should give a graphic that looks like a Vegas One armed bandit. Once it recognizes your vehicle, then just let it do the health check. All your modules will be checked and report generated. Once this is done then you can tap the BCM module on the screen and a set of parameters and tests will open up. It is a good idea to keep a list of your RPO codes nearby as it will ask you for some of them including what radio you have. Go through the tests until you find the section on Windows and then tap that and it will give you the options of what you can do. One of those tests will be to recal the windows. Once you see what you can do with this tool the money you will save is huge.

Thanks! Appreciate all the tips

I tried the recal procedure with the top up and top down. It "relearned" but it still didn't close at the right height.

I checked the other windows to make sure I was doing it right but noticed that window was the only one where the window position "sensor" was stuck reading in between open and close.

The other windows would read open and close when the window was open or closed respectively.

Any idea if the window position sensor is serviceable or if the entire motor assembly would need to be replaced?

Appreciate all your help!

Now that it's nice out, I'm going to try to dig into this further... Anyone have any experience getting the rear quarter window motor? I tried to google it but couldn't find anything relative to a convertible.

I've been holding off on tinting the windows until I can get that one up to the right position..
