When you say basic radio, what exactly do you mean?

Do you have the 7" inch screen, RPO Code: IOR ?
or 8" without navigation, RPO Code: IOS ?

To the best of my knowledge, If you have the IOS, then you can add spectrum lighting. Will need a programming update after the install to activate the lighting.

However pretty sure you can't add it(lighting) to the IOR radio. Also while I won't say it is impossible I don't think upgrading from the IOR to an IOS/IOT radio without a fair amount of cost and work. Would probably at a minimum need to replace the radio unit, the head unit, and a bunch of wiring, the thing that might be the stopper is some sort of reprogramming.

If this is the upgrade you are referring to, I would start with reaching out to White Automotive and Media Services to see if this is even possible.

At some point GM started using a QR code for the RPO list. Its on your driver's door jamb.

The answer is no, you can’t swap to the upgraded screen and Bose system.

Between software and hardware, everything is different.

Definitely you should ask Chris White. Maybe he can just get the spectrum lighting working with your old radio? But yea, it is definitely apples to oranges between the base and uplevel radio.
