Driver's side window busted out on 7.11.24

My 2022 Camaro 2SS driver's side window was busted out on 7.11.24 between 1:00 AM through 2:45 AM. I do not know who did this. I'm pissed AF! I had safelite come out and replace the window, but their quality sucks next level! There is glass still stuck in the door. I can hear the broken loose glass move around back and forth when opening and closing the driver's side door. I am going to have to go to their direct on-site shop to have this fixed. Wouldn't the shop use a high air compressor to remove all remaining glass from said internal door frame? Is it standard to have $hit work done, and leave loose busted glass wedged inside the door after a new window is installed from any company?

Or you could have had a shop vac there when the tech had it all apart and they could have cleaned it then? JMO???

That’s what I did when I broke a neighbors little truck window because they sure didn’t bring a vac with them!

The Safelite tech was one of those on-site service providers that shows up at your home or business. They had a $hitty little shop vac. The vac had no interchangeable tips to reach into tight spots. The tech had no air compressor to push air in tight spots to move that damn glass out. ITS NOW A YOU PROBLEM SAFELITE! FIX MY $HIT! I plan to schedule an in-shop visit. so they can fix their problem.

Had a bad experience here in Nashville with SAFELITE at their facility on my Mercedes. Lost a cap for the wiper arm bolt (tech said it was never there), misrouted the washer tubes, and left screws in the floorboard. Fixed it myself ($22 for the cap from Mercedes dealer) as tech denied anything was wrong and said he used his own screws and just forgot to pick the others up.

Never again. Half the people that came in while I was there for about 3 hours were there to have a previous job issue fixed. Not good.

There are two old-school (been around forever) auto glass shops here that do a great job. They've had my subsequent business.

Man you're lucky they didn't steal your car. That is usually step 1. Maybe they got spooked or maybe they couldn't get their obd2 tool to create a key.

You're in Houston... you do realize they were trying to steal your car, right?

Get an Igla, asap. You are now a marked target.

Parking car outside overnight in Houston?- Put in a garage and that would have saved your window and poor repair headaches.

Yes, nothing was stolen out of the vehicle. I think they wanted my vehicle intact. I also had to clean up blood spots on the seat. The idiot must have used their fist. I hope the glass grinded into their hands. I wish my ring cam in the driveway would have picked up on something, but I downgraded my internet speed, and the ring cam was offline during that time. I have since upgraded back to gigabyte service. Anytime you have 18+ wireless devices connected, you can't compromise safety. A career criminal won't care regardless.

Yes, because nothing was stolen inside the car. Can you recommend a IGLA brand?

What are your guys thoughts on getting a Soler Prf. DLX BT Throttle Controller for Camaro 6th gen? Just to note, I already have a solar performance throttle body installed. SP tech support said this would work great for adding an additional security measure. While a garage is one of the best defenses, having some discussions on additional theft deterrents is key.

Be cautious that thieves also use WiFi jammers, so if your cameras were down only for the theft attempt it might not be because of your slow internet. I would err more to a jammer or general internet issue being the cause, most cameras have fairly low bitrates and don't require much internet speed.

Camera wise, I wouldn't push someone to change what they have already but if you ever plan on changing: I generally guide friends and family towards cameras that are wired for network and power, that have the possibility of local usage (saving to SD card in case internet goes down), and no requirement of cloud. Wired networking is the only one of those that I consider not as critical (since it is not always feasible). If you live somewhere warm, a battery camera might be ok also but it would be a pain in the winter where I live.

The throttle won't operate at all in Lock mode, but the car will still roll forward at idle - about 3mph for my V6.

See this other thread for additional prevention thoughts:

Not sure if this will create a no-start response from the computers, but here's an interim, free five-minute step you could take with just a 10mm socket while you are waiting on other items:

Northwest Houston, TX North Houston Rosslyn Road & Bingle Rd are the main cross streets. While its an older neighborhood, we have never had this kind of issue until now. When I had my 2010, 2011 2SS I never ran into this problem. It just seems to me that if you have a newer sports car, the more attention it will draw in.
