Need to tow my car soon and I cannot start it. I have power, Its a 6 speed manual, how do I disengage the E brake without starting?

Hold down the power button without the brake for like 5 seconds, it will go through the start up sequence on the dash but wont start. Like an advanced accessory mode.

You can also just get it and push the start button like normal without pressing the clutch. Put your foot on the brake and release the parking brake. I do this all the time when I want to just roll mine a couple feet without starting it.

I wonder if this will allow me to steer as well. Thanks

You'll want to put it in "Service Mode" which is described in the owner's manual. Someone else mentioned it above...hold down the start button for 5 sec minimum without foot on the brake and it will enter a state much like "on" but the vehicle cannot be started in service mode.
The steering wheel should be unlocked for steering, although you will receive no power assist. Parking brake can be released by applying foot brake and releasing park brake. |

Yes you can steer but without power assist. With mine (6-speed) there is no steering lock. I can rotate the steering wheel at will without assist. The only thing you need power for is to release the parking brake. If the parking brake is already off. You can put the transmission in neutral and push the car around as you like. |

Thank you once again, got my car towed today and your advice worked. Held the start button for a few good seconds, was able to release the e brake and roll out the driveway. Now I wait and pray for good news from the shop.
