Kill switch for suitcase muffler delete.

I had a few extra cables around and a kill switch. I decided to put an external kill switch on my car and it’s mainly for guys that have deleted their very large suitcase muffler. There are a few draw backs on my kill switch, you have to get on your knees to switch on/off and people will see you do it. I just disrupted the ground and place the switch where the former stock muffler was and ran the cables up to the ground bolt the original battery uses. Basically it’s pretty simple, I took a few pics and to show what you need if you ever want to do something similar. I have my car in the garage and basically I don’t leave my car unattended much, but you never know with the way Camaro’s are being taken off the street. I am running out of things to do to my car so I did this.

Very interesting approach. I would have a couple concerns. 1- Your battery cable is still connected to the battery with three small wires attached at the battery terminal. There are still things in the car remaining powered with the switch off. In the event of a high amperage draw (starter motor for example) would the sudden current draw effect what ever is connected to those two wires? I would assume since a ground is still technically attached, the power would attempt to draw through those smaller wires. 2- If you do disconnect the entire negative connection from the battery, you will loose all memory in various modules/components and may need to re-perform all your drive cycles to pass an emissions test if that is something in your area.

My car would never pass emissions test. You have to know someone in the business. Wink wink. Not concerned with memory at all including myself. Like I said my car is in the garage all the time, I might use this once or twice a year being out for a weekend at a hotel. Would rather have the car relearn then be taken by thieves.

(If both earths/ grounds are bolted to a known good chassis connection, then there will not be an issue.)

Totally understandable. What about the car trying to pull large amounts of current through the smaller wires? The issue I see is if it attempts to do that, the current is being pulled through the electronics connected to the wires and you run the risk of burning up electronics.

They are all grounds. If both earths/ grounds are bolted to a known good chassis connection, then there will not be an issue. Those other wires are my nitrous grounds. Running for 5 years, not a single problem. But hey thanks for your concerns, that’s what the forum is for
