Lost a Front Brake Pad Pin
Went to change Rotors and Pads yesterday and noticed that the pin that holds the pads in place with the 13mm nut was missing on the driver side caliper. Any of you track rats ever have one of these vibrate loose in the past?
It might be a good idea to start safety wiring things in the future. |

Yes, this happened to me and I had to buy the whole kit as that's the only way I could find the right bolt. It also happened to me on the driver's side. I'm wondering if I just didn't tighten it enough.

Same. I found it backing out as i was coming off track. The bolt was nowhere to be seen. Ive got a couple spares one hand now. And torque appropriately.

27 track days and no lots bolts or pins like you describe.
I'd hazard a guess you guys are under torquing during reassembly, but please let us know if you purposely selected a lower torque value or didn't measure it. Lately I've reduced it by a few ft/lbs in an attempt to ensure I don't round-off the bolt head (hard to get any socket arrangement to sit correctly on the bolt head given local obstructions) and would like to ensure my bolts/pins stay in place. |

That bolt is to be threadlocked. GM#89021297. High temp, high strength threadlocker. I use the equivalent Permatex #27200
22lb ft. I've never had an issue between my '14 SS 1LE and current '22 SS 1LE, 55+ track days.

Never had any issue, 87 track days. I just make sure its torqued properly. No mention in the service manual about thread locker on the bridge bolt, but if yours's is coming off, why not.. Torque is 22 lb ft (J6M)

This is for the SS 1LE, haven't checked to see if the ZL1 is different. No Loctite needed

I've never had one loosen up and I do not reapply Loctite. High temp Loctite is a better solution than safety wire. I do periodically replace the pins, bridge bolt/pin, and spring every 15-20 track days.
