weird issue with ventilated seats
so i can't pinpoint when this started but when i put my ventilated seats on sometimes the back section puts the heated seat on instead of the fan..
on the dash it still indicates vented seats on but the back gets hot and the seat bottom still ventilates.... i already tried turning auto off on the climate controls and i thought that fixed it but it still does it anyone have this issue and or resolve it

Omg, finally someone has this issue. I asked about this 6 months ago and got nothing. I hope it gets traction cause it's summer and hot af without the vented seats. What happens with mine is, you turn on the vented seats, and they work for about 5 minutes if I'm lucky. After that they get so hot, like leather been sitting in the sun hot. Ever since then, I had to retire the option of having cooled seats as the dealer won't cover it under warranty. It's a 2019 and everyone that hasn't sat in my car thinks I'm crazy, lol.

I’m going to toss out two scenarios based on issues from 2nd hand knowledge passed on to me from friends who’ve had and resolved the issue.
1st guy had modded his exhaust. I don’t know his setup other than it was a catback system. He found that a portion of his new exhaust was heating up the section of floor beneath the seat. Air was being drawn up into his vented system and cooking his ass. It took about 5 or so minutes before the cooling air turned hot as the exhaust heated up from initial start. Passenger seat not affected. I know he had it rerouted or modified and resolved it. You might get a laser temp reader and aim it at the area under your seat and see if it’s way hotter than it should be or way hotter than surrounding areas. 2nd guy had a malfunction in his duct that blows towards the floor at your feet. Hot air blowing into the bottom of the seat was sucked up and expelled onto his backside. The vent facing him by the shifter was not affected so he didn’t catch it right away. I hope either one might be a possible explanation depending on your car and what’s been done to it. Only you know. Good luck! |

i do have an exhaust, but the bottom of the seat still works. It's only the back section of the seat that gets hot, so seems unlikely that that is it. also if i turn off the ventilation the seat cools down again, its like the heated seat turns on but only on the back of the seat....

Think about your exact problem... The seat doesn't differentiate between hot or cold...It's either the whole seat gets the power for heat or not through the HVAC controls...If all is working correctly from the HVAC control to the seat for the bottom that would lead one to assume there's a short in the seat's backrest wiring... I'm betting it's a connector/shorted harness event for the backrest portion back feeding into the heated seat grid.. First spot I'd be looking is where the seat back always bends the harness when laid front...Second would be the harness under the seat when moved front to back..

I haven't picked up my car yet but this is what the dealer told me. There is a rare issue that is the exact opposite of mine that people have reported. When they put the seat heater on high, it eventually gets lower and lower in temp then the fan turns on for the vented seats, all while the heated seat lights were on. There was a software update to fix this and other anomalies. They updated my software and said let's see if this fixes it. So yay for not being crazy, and we'll see what happens in the following weeks.

Make sure you have the "auto turn on" for the heated seats disabled under the climate settings in the touch screen menu. It was over 100 degrees outside, had my seat cooling on. Didn't feel any air coming from seats with the seat cooling on full 3/3 and my back felt hot, AC was running .The indicator on the heated seat console button was off. I turned that toggle setting off in the touchscreen menu, and immediately felt some air blowing gently on my back.
