Rapid Blue convertible siting today.
I was loading a few groceries in my car in the outside perimeter of the grocery store today, got in and started the engine, and a rapid blue convertible rolled up & parked 1 space away. The gentleman asked "wanna race?" and we proceeded to chat a few minutes about our cars.
He said he has 'the big corvette engine' and all the options in it, with 6-piston breaks in the front, etc. I asked if it was a ZL1, which he also confirmed as a 2023. We both left and when I followed him out of the lot, I noticed a SS logo on the left-side of the rear bumper. Beautiful car, friendly chat. Just wondering if its normal for a ZL1 to have an SS on the rear bumper? I didn't notice any ZL1 badging on the side. Maybe it was actually a 1LE? His car was more specialerer than yours. I’m calling douchebag on this one. He had an SS. He should have pulled that on a Buick guy. Never another Camaro owner. If I paid 80+ grand for a Zl1 and it had SS badging on it, I’d be a little upset! “Big corvette engine” lol! Sounds like Uncle Eddie. Most ZL1 owners know they have an LT4. Maybe? |

I don't think "douchebag", but more ignorance. He clearly doesn't know cars too well if he called it the "big Corvette engine".
If he had a 1LE package on his SS it would have had 1LE stickers on the brakes. |

He was probably in his late 60s or early 70s, and was wearing white cotton gloves to protect his steering wheel. Not driving gloves. Plain white cotton gloves you buy in a 10-pack.
Edit: I know mine is a V6 RS and I'm in love with it. I don't feel ashamed of it next to an SS or anything. Wasn't sure if he was ignorant or what, lol |

The LT1 is a "Big Corvette Engine" on the standard Corvettes... Maybe that is what his dealer told him... LT1 ain't no slouch... However it ain't an LT4 either... I'm going with "Ignorance over arrogance" especially if it was an older fellow... Just grin, nod and go on your way...

Hey, a little respect for us old guys. At least he was friendly and wanted to chat up cars. I always appreciate that and sometimes learn something new. The other stuff I just laugh off. I'd liked to see a picture of his car and yours side by side.

I’m confused. Is it not kosher to say your engine was used in a corvette? It’s true and impressive in my opinion.
