Methanol Self Life
Hi guys, is there a self life for methanol? I have a 5gal jug here that has about 3 gals left but its been sitting for about 3 yrs now. Its in its original metal can closed in a corner of the garage with no sun contact but garage temps do get high in the summers and just noticed when it rains some water gets into that corner this the bottom of the can (on the outside) is showing some rust.
You think meth is still good? Or not worth the risk and just get a new can. Thoughts? Anyway to actually test purity? Thanks in advance

If the meth inside the can is clean, send it.
Or you could buy a hydrometer if you really want to know, but it won't hurt the car. People use 50/50 in some fueling applications, so a bit of water absorption is a non issue. |
