I really wanted to move to Florida, but now recently married, my wife does not want to go there at all.

How are you handling the heat there compared to here?

Forget the heat. Aren't Florida home insurance prices through the roof? Haven't a bunch of insurance companies bailed out of providing coverage due to all the claims from flooding/hurricanes?

No way I'd want to live somewhere like that. Vacation? Great! But actually living there? Hard pass.

I'm in south Florida, summers are hot and humid as all f$$k. If you decide to come down at some point, definitely go more north and central.

You're right, insurance has sky rocketed down here in south Florida. Both auto and homeowners. Plus this place is busting at the seams with people. Everyone wants be be near the beach. We'll actually be leaving in about 5 yrs for a more rural life out of state.

I’m glad my years in law enforcement weren’t in a place where such a stupid citation exists (the exhaust one). Also, never had a quota or incentive to write a citation beyond the basis of the job description.

Yes. Up 20% this year. If inflation hasn't hit you yet, it will too.

Yes, have had to move the HO policy once and auto twice in 3 years.

Don't come to FL. It sucks here.

Typically around here you would never get stopped for a loud exhaust, certainly not at these decibels. Harleys with straight pipes don't get stopped. Now if you run a stop sign and get hammered for that, the muffler ticket is just an easy revenue bump for the extra minute of time needed to issue a second citation.

As an outside the curve thought, have you considered using the "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" as proof your replacement exhaust is an allowable exhaust replacement part.

Also, can you get an authorized second opinion regarding the sound and appearance of your exhaust? In Wisconsin an owner can get an inspection from a police officer if the vehicle is driven to the police station. If an unknown person stuffs steel wool into the system, there maybe a few decibels reduction in volume.

Work the easy, "no-cost" angles first.

You said it not me this time. I figured it might not be worth the effort. But it was a thought when this thread first started.
