True, but I would encourage you to shop other insurance companies. You have nothing to lose and might be pleasantly surprised.

Insurance rates are crazy right now on most things. Camaros are now one of the most stolen vehicles out there so that has caused rates to rise the most, imo.

2024 LT1 in Ohio. $250,000/$500,000 with 500 deductible (1,000 with 500 disappearing so 500) uninsured/towing the whole nine for $568 yearly. Home/Auto/Life/Umbrella all bundled with Erie. I’m 52.

Car insurance is a legal racket that the state requires by law that you get. Insurance companies know this and is why they can get away with these absurd and unjustified increases. And loyalty does not matter at all to these companies. You can be with them for 20 years with zero tickets/claims, then you get into an accident and they jack your rates or simply drop you. I am not surprised that 50%+ of drivers have no insurance in some areas. All you can do is shop around for the cheapest rate and change often as needed.

Would anyone be surprised to know most insurance companies pay out as much money as they take in with policy premiums, sometimes they pay out more. It's the financial arms of these companies that turn a profit. The insurance side is ultimately a loser but it's part of how they get their capital.

Loss ratios and the cost of repair (parts, labor) has gone up. Insurers need to be able to cover that. I'm not happy about the recent rate hikes. It has to be approved typically at the state level by the insurance commissioner, and they need to be able to cover the gap until next time a hike is approved. Policies are contracts, these companies have to pay even if they're losing money, and they can't change your rate during the policy period. The last increase here that was approved was 25% and that covered multiple years of parts and labor price increases.

Switched my Vette, Camaro and Tahoe and saved $700 per year. Shop around. There’s always a highly rated insurance company that’s willing to be cheaper than your current one.

You can also ask your company if reporting mileage would help. I have a lot of vehicles (5 cars and a motorcycle) that they defaulted each to 7500 miles annually. That's not the case at all (I commute via motorcycle, my ZLE barely sees 1k miles a year, and even my most driven 4 wheel vehicle is only 5k a year. While it's no longer a service they advertise (state farm used to promote it) my agent is great and she puts in requests to lower the premium by directly requesting it via mileage submittals. Works out for me as motorcycles don't have that option anyway and that's my biggest milage acrueer

This isn't a 24 issue, my insurance on a 23 went up 20% this last 6 months, called my broker and he said its that way across the board, ran my info against all the companies and I'm still at the "best" place to be.

I’m 38 with one wreck in 11/2022 on my record and a decent credit score.
