Is anyone else like.... bye, Felicia?

I am obviously not a fan of the Malibu. Not back in 1997, not in 2004, 08, 13, or 2016. It's always been the car which never truly measured up to similarly sized competitors.

No doubt there will be nothing but excuses about how Malibu is not wanted! Funny how we're told nobody wants an Impala, Camaro, Malibu, or anything other than an under powered SUV or EV yet I constantly run into people wanting them all. I personally have 2 kids driving older Impalas, one wont buy a new car because he hasnt found something the same size and price point that he likes. I wanted another Impala but had to settle for an Equinox because the Impala is dead.

"Another one bites the dust".

Just like the song says another long time model from GM gone. I understand changing dynamics in ownership of certain cars but, shouldn't they be replaced by what the consumer wants, not mandated. It's pretty obvious the majority of people for various reasons don't want an EV. Good business means giving the consumer what they want or need not some inviromental political movement or statement. We will continue to see EV's pile up at dealerships because the auto makers are not listening.

No you can blame the dealers for that one.

We go to buy a V8 car, and they try to sell us a malibu, suggesting its the same thing. Go ahead ask me how many times this has happened to me. And when I say, "No thanks it is not the same thing." Then walk away. They stare at me dumbfounded.

Honestly at this point GM can go bankrupt, again. There is nothing worth giving them any money for now that most of the desirable cars have been scrapped.

I had a 2015 Ford Fusion for a rental for two weeks while I was in Phoenix on vacation in Jan 2016. I’ve also had a 2022 Malibu as a rental last year.

Both cars I was very pleased with. They’re built well, good interior quality, in fact the Fusion was even better than Honda and Toyota at that time. Smooth engines, good performance, very nice cars. Better chassis than I would gave thought.

It always seems that the American companies kill cars right at the moment they’ve finally made them high quality and competitive or better than Japan. It’s like, they start off with junk, steadily improve it, then when it’s right they cancel it and kill the chassis and nameplate.

Bob Lutz called the Camaro’s Alpha chassis the best chassis GM ever made and I absolutely agree.

Yet here we are.

At your job, you keep improving your performance and get to where you’re one of the best in your position then your boss fires you.

Makes sense.

Article says Malibu is going away to make room for some EV (that Americans don't want). As more Americans realize that EV's are not what the government and the car makers claimed, I imagine their sales figures will continue to decline. This is what happens with the government forces their idiotic ideology onto private businesses instead of letting market forces decide.

Some people have tried to convince me Queen Mary isn’t a shill for the rich men north of Richmond but this is proof.

When the gub’ment restructured GM in 2009 curiously she was appointed as VP of global HR. Imagine someone who was an engineer for 25 years now the HR manager. I can go on but might get my hand slapped by mods.

I don’t need to explain any further.

My daughter ordered and purchased a Malibu last year. It took longer for it to come in than my 1LE did (more than twice as long). It is a really nice car and she absolutelly loves it. The local dealer rarely has Malibus on the lot, when they do, they do not last very long at all. Not that the Malibu is a great overall seller, but my local dealership doesn't seem to keep them on the lot very long. On the other hand, the Bolts just sits on the lot. Seems like they can't give them away..

GM was right to discontinue the Bolt. It was a good little car, but most people don't want a little car and it's also hard to make margin on a BEV at that price point right now. The Bolt is also "old" as far as EV's are concerned. You can have a much more mainstream but slightly used Tesla for the same price (and a bigger car).

There are so many good choices in the EV market, with a much faster internal charge rate. 50kW in the Bolt is usable, but it's nothing compared to the cars which can DC fast charge at 200 or 300kW. GM either needed to update it, or kill it, and they killed it.

They will lose more money investing in EV’s. They don’t seem to get it.
