I purchased these Carbon Fiber looking door accents, but I don't know if these attach to the existing parts (on top), or if the existing parts need to be removed. The instructions (in picture) say to use a heat gun to heat up the tape and stretch the tape. I don't get it. Can anyone help enlighten me? Thanks,

They are an overlay, which means you put it on over top of the existing piece. You'll clean the piece it's going on with alcohol, then heat up the pieces and the area it's going ON to with a heat gun or hair dryer then peel the tape and stick it on over it, then re-heat it a little bit again to make sure the tape adheres well to the door trim piece. I'm getting these also very soon, as I have a few other carbon fiber pieces that I've done on the inside of my ZL1 already. One thing I did notice is that the pieces you have appear to NOT have the slit for the LED strip in the door so if you put those on, you will not have that LED light strip. If you got these from carbon add ons, they have ones that specifically have the cutouts for the LED light in the door. Those are the ones I'm getting are the ones that have the cutout for the lights.

Carbo Add Ons for sure ! They get my vote as well. They have paid attention to every detail to their aftermarket dress-up kits and replacement items. I've added/overlaid my shifter surround and shift knob. Just like NYTMARE23 instructions say.

Can you tell that it's an overlay after it's installed? I feel like it would look tacky since it's a sticker but I could be wrong. I have actually replaced components on my interior instead of going this route since I was worried about it looking tacky. I would like to get these as well, just wondering.

Applied correctly, that is, aligned and attached as per the instructions, they don't look tacky at all as these are actual carbon fiber parts with excellent fitment. I assume these are from carbonaddons, I purchased a steering wheel and a few interior pieces from there, and they blend into the interior well. Very similar appearance to the GM carbon fiber dash panel.

The stuff I've installed on mine I don't FEEL like it looks tacky. Looks pretty nice. Now, that said, I DO believe that you CAN add TOO much to the interior to where it looks tacky, but if it's done "tastefully" I think it looks nice. . Here are a couple pics of what I've done so far. Oh Man! you guys are awesome! I surely want the LED Cutouts! But my covers were $80. The one's you show are $350?! I will surely not cover up my lights, so I guess I'll send these back and look into the ones you got.

Yes, these carbonaddons items are not cheap, but they are high quality, genuine carbon fiber, and I guess in this case the complex contours drove up the cost somewhat, their simpler (but still true CF) interior pieces are cheaper.
