2016 Camaro Ss Fuel/Evap System Not Ready

Hi guys. Recently changed fuel pump and fixed bad connector on fuel pump module. Car i had left me stranded. The car now runs fine. No codes. Took the car for state inspection recently and my fuel and evap system said not ready. I drove car another 150 miles and it still says the same. Anybody experience this before. My car passed last yr just fine.

There is a very specific set of criteria needed to get that monitor to set as “Ready”. Google the OBD-II drive cycle to get an idea. But on that one you’ll likely need to drive the fuel tank down low, then fill it up, then do a cold start. Or something to that effect. It can be a pain lol.

I have driven the car over 200 miles and its still in not ready status. Does anyone know how long it takes to be ready for emissions. I did have a lean code before all this. I usually mix E85 with 91. I think it was because of that. I reset the codes and drove the car 250 miles so far.

As stated above you you need to drive the specific cycle. Typically easiest to do that is on a deserted 2 lane hwy as there's a lot of speed variation and braking. However, evap takes forever to clear. Like hundreds of miles. I went thru this on a battery change in an Avalanche just before inspection when I lived in NY. Failed all the readiness codes. Spent 20 minutes on the drive cycle, brought it back and passed all except for evap. But in NY you only needed to pass 3/4 codes. Not sure about where you are at. If you can clear the fuel code maybe it will pass without evap.

Did you read what I wrote above…? It’s NOT mileage related. If you don’t hit the specific criteria, it won’t show “ready”. Period.

How long ago was that the case? I've never been able to pass a NYS inspection if my EVAP wasn't ready. I had a Chevy Colorado that had a persistent EVAP leak I couldn't track down, and it was a juggling act to clear the code and have enough time to get the data to at least read "ready" or "pending" to pass.

I'm running into this issue too. Tried everything suggested. The problem is all the suggestions are generic and say follow a the specific sequence but no one says what that specific routine is.

Does anyone know exactly what the drive cycle is for a 6th Gen Camaro LT1 A10 is?

It's a massive pain in the arse. These look like the instructions I followed~ish when I had to deal with EVAP not ready. https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176410

Some of these steps are downright dangerous because they have you coast from highway speeds down to 20mph. For me, I was fortunate enough to have a highway interchange that gets virtually zero traffic and an inclined ramp to help the deceleration.

Thanks for that. Was there a specific post that describes what worked for you? That thread is all over the place with inconsistent & contradictory information.

-- All electronics off vs on for cold idel test
-- Miles vs minutes
-- Cruise yes vs no

There's even a link to use a Tech 2 process.

I agree some of these driving instructions are down right dangerous. Reads like it has to be done on a closed course.

Evap on GM vehicles is about as easy as getting a liberal and conservative to apologize to each other. It's specific to engine temperatures and engine run time, along with fuel level and the statis of other monitors readiness. If you do normal drive cycles for a few weeks then it might switch to ready as long as no problems are detected and you don't have history failure codes stored.

If you have a history code in the system it needs to do the required pass sequence to clear the code and then do it again to set the monitor to ready.
For example, if you have a history p0420 for catalyst efficiency. And that monitor needs to see 3 full drive cycles to switch to ready. You will need to do a total of 6 runs of engine at operating temp, 15min constant throttle highway runs around 60mph, then come to a stop and wait 3-5 mins at idle.

Fuel monitor is a big umbrella of codes its monitoring. Most having to do with cam timing and desired vs actual fuel pressures. On top of readiness of o2 monitors.

Since my car didn't have cats when i bought it i have o2 and cat codes that will never go away. I removed all emissions codes and changed all fuel and timing codes to "no mil", that way if i need to reference them for repairs i can. But for the most part i can disconnect my battery and hook it back up and my monitors are all ready.

So if rear 02s are deleted, no passing emissions?
