SteveV, straight line only!

I'm now back to new tires but stock size. I agree wider isn't better! Considering in order: Nitto NT555R2's, Toyo R888R's and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Cup 2's. All though our other (6) cars family and work truck all have MICHELIN... Hmmm... why is that !!!

I'd be interested to hear a review on them since we have relatively the same weather. I just put Continental ExtremeContact Sport 2's on mine but the weather is still crap here so the only place I drove it to was the detailer.

Sorry, I totally forgot about this post/promise for an update! We had a few colder days for a few weeks or so after I got the new tires. In that weather, the tires seemed to stick just as good as the stock F1's <<< Typo didn't>>> (I meant>>> ) did in warmer temps. Afterwards, I had the ZL1 out several times when temps were in the 80°'s and that's when a few things stood out to me. One thing was the tires seemed to have less road noise than the stock Good Year F1's did. Also, the R555R2's seem to hook up immensely better. I can't say they hook up "like glue" because I've not had enough outings to really determine (I took my ZL1 to Katech shortly after the weather got nice). But, these tires do hook up! I was doing rolling WOT from 50mph, and they hooked up way better than the F1's did from a rolling WOT from 65mph+. One thing I notice quickly, I was able to enter and maintained higher speeds going into freeway clover leaf's exits ramps and regular circle style exit ramps that we have here in Columbus. Over all, there is a noticeable difference, for the better with the Nitto's. I've not tracked either tire, the stock F1's or the new R555R2's. But, will do so soon once I get my ZL1 back from Katech!

The 555R2 is THE best streetable tire you're going to get for straight line acceleration without going to a full blown MT ET Street R which should never be driven on the street. The nice thing about the 555R2 is that even though its a drag radial, the sidewall is still stiff enough that it has decent handling capability too.

Too many variables there to answer that question, it will be more than a Cup 2 R and Supercar 3 R tire but less than a street tire.

Good to know these tires are back in stock. They have been on back order for over a year. Gonna ditch the nitto G2s and slap on the 555R2s now.

That would be a HUGE upgrade in traction.

Can you run the 315/35/20 with no issues without modifications? and do you run G2 on the front?

I'm going to keep the G2s in front. Going with stock rear size for the 555RIIs. Hopefully Discount Tire will give me some credit on the low mileage rear G2s.
