Where is a good place to hardwire a dash cam?
After the accident that claimed my '13, I bought dash cameras for both my new Camaro and my wife's car.
Instead of coming with a USB power cord, they have 12v outlet plugs. Neither of us want a dangling cord from the camera to the outlets on our consoles, so I was thinking of lopping off the plug and just wiring the camera directly to a line with switched power and a ground. Would it be worth disabling one of the map lights and using that switch to power on and off the camera since it is a constant hot, or is there a better place?

FWIW, I just routed the wire to the 12v outlet around the trim/molding so it is very inconspicuous. |
