TCM Tune Only
Hello all,
How much of a gain can be had with only a T93 tune on a nearly stock '23 ZL1 A10 (with ported TB and Green Filter)? Just curious on what a difference it could actually make.

A decent TCM tune is generally worth .2-.3 seconds in the quarter mile from faster shifts and reduced torque management.

Thanks Josh. In your opinion, does a tuned TCM cause any more wear and tear than the factory tune which pretty much strives for max fuel economy?

The OEM TM is also there to protect parts of the driveline.

BUT, Radz28 is 100% right. When you’re under full power, that torque management helps protect the OEM components. While I suspect you’d be fine at your power level, anytime things get juiced up a bit there’s always a risk to breaking stuff…! It’s part-and-parcel of modding a car unfortunately. If you’re worried about your warranty do not mod the car. If you want a fast car then spend the money and let the chips fall where they may.

I wouldn't tune the TCM even at stock power.
The trans is pretty expensive and you don't want any issues. Warranty will be void. Unlocking costs like 250$, licensing costs I believe another 200$ and then the tune itself costs also. unlocking requires them to open up the TCM and change some stuff. At the end its alot of money for high risk and results in a unoticable faster shifting. Like some said at 1/4 you save maybe 0.2 seconds. I got mine at 830 HP and didn't let my trans tune. Shifts would occur with higher torque and wears down the shift plates in the trans. At normal driving not a big deal, but at WOT...

The 10l90 is robust enough you can command full torque shifts at stock power and not phase it. The TM is in place to make the car shift like a European sports car and help keep the driver on the road. Cold pavement, cold tires, full torque shift = tires breaking loose.
When I tune them, I drastically reduce TM but I still allow for some timing pull on shifts. I change the tune mainly for a better driving experience. But the stock tune isn't bad on the A10 stuff.

+2. He knows what he's talking about.
BUT - do what you're comfortable with. It's your $$$.
