Another question! Does anyone know how much a shop might charge to clean my injectors while they are out and replace lower seals (and upper if removed from the rail)?

Reviving this thread because I'm getting paranoid. I ended up finding enough money to go full heads cam from GPI. But I am a little worried about possible damage to the bottom end or oil pump. I did some simple math and came to the conclusion that since it was a 2-3-2 shift, the max rpm the motor could have seen was 81xx rpm. Does this sound like an amount that could hurt the bottom end? even the oil pump? I read somewhere that cavitation caused by over spinning the oil pump could cause them to fail.

Have you thought about sending an oil sample to Blackstone Labs and having an analysis done?

Not a bad idea, but i doubt it would tell me much about a damaged oil pump. The car has been torn down for nearly 2 months at this point. Still waiting to get my heads back from GPI, seems they are backed up as I sent the heads in mid January and I’m still looking at 3-5 weeks. I am mainly just worried there is damage elsewhere.

Honestly if my car was going to be torn apart, there’s a strong chance I’d be throwing a Katech oil pump in it anyway. At the very least it would get a new oem pump.

Mainly because I do not really have the facilities to remove the motor from the car, nor enough people to do it in the car.

The dealership that did my engine warranty repairs said they did everything with the engine remaining in the car including a new head and replacing the oil pump (presumably just to update to the newer part # version since oil pressure was still fine). Idk how difficult the oil pump swap was to do or how many people were required though.

The big problem is the oil pan has to come off and I've heard that the engine needs to be lifted or K member dropped... I just don't have the tools, man power, or know-how to do that. I talked to GPI and told them everything and they said that as long as the piston isn't cracked, everything SHOULD be fine and further damage is unlikely. In case anyone is curious, the only damage I have observed thus far is the bent pushrod and scratched valve (hit piston).

Here’s an update for anyone wondering:
Still waiting to get my heads back from GPI. Been about 2 months since I sent them. Been doing a little work to get it apart when I can. Since I can’t pull the motor out, I had to remove the radiator. Probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. Will follow up on that process if more are interested. Garage is covered in parts all over the place.

Hmm, I didn't know removing the radiator was that bad, although I haven't had to do it yet. Please give us some more juicy details
