2018 Hot Wheels
I am looking at a Hot Wheels 2ss, M6 with only 6k miles on it. Have not seen the car in person yet but pic's and history look very good. Asking price is $38,900 and I doubt it's negotiable. I'm sure it's on the original tires but other than that I don't see any problems until I run thru it with a fine tooth comb. Prices on these are hard to pin down and I know they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I saw one a couple of weeks ago with 23k miles listed for $37,500, I decided to sleep on that one overnight and next day it was sold. Anyone care to offer any advice or specific things to look for on this car? I see others listed for as high as $60k but I doubt they really expect to get that.
Car I'm looking at is a hardtop, 2ss, M6, NPP exhaust, beyond that I don't know. I do like the look of the hardtop roof line. |

The Hot Wheels edition was a simple (and very nice) appearance package, so you only need to go through your standard used car checklist.
$38.9K is near the top end of the fair price range for a 2018 2SS, even though it has low mileage, so it better drive perfectly, have zero issues with the throttle, the transmission/shifter linkage or the brakes, and look good inside and outside. For example, the underside of mine as well as the paint look almost new still, and the interior is absolutely flawless. That's the level of care I would expect for this much money.

Same options I bought on mine in 2020 (also has MRC) and around 3500 miles at that time. They were going for 37-42. I paid 37500 at a dealership. So I think that price is still a fair deal. This is not a straight comparison to just another 2018 2SS in my opinion though. Whether or not 45, 50, or 60k is "worth" it to someone is entirely up to them. I do think the Hot Wheels, especially manual, will hold and garner appreciation in the long run. Make sure all the stripes are done correctly on the rear of the car. The trunk/spoiler were put on by dealers and can be done incorrectly.

I saw a 2018 auto with 5000 miles on a Nevada Craigslist ad, the owner was asking 85,000 for it.

It’s a cool car and I think $39k is a fair price for a 2SS with that low mileage. If I were still in the market, I would jump on it.

As with everything used, condition is everything. If it's been left to rot for 6 years, that's not good. Like if the guy dies and his wife parks the car in a moldy garage and it's still got gas in the tank from 5 years ago.. But if it's been lovingly maintained and stored, then it could be a great find.

I'd have trouble paying more than $35K for that car, considering it's 7 years old at this point.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but you won't find a decent one for sale at that price. You won't find any 2SS in good condition, low miles, M6 around that year for that price.

I picked up my 2SS M6 Hot Wheels 50th in July of 2021. It has MRC, NPP, Moonroof, etc…
I bought it with 1375 miles on it! It was traded in at a Mercedes dealer in CA. It had been ordered by the original owner, and also had the GM CAI and tune done at the dealer he bought it from. It also came with the hot wheels car set in the original case and box! I bought it in CA, and I live in MA. Had it shipped, closed transport across the country. I bought it after working with a salesman extensively, since I could only view it in photos, videos and FaceTime. I was a stickler with knowing what I was buying without an in person viewing. It went great. There were a few things that I hadn’t seen, cosmetic-wise, but I had those corrected easily with my body shop guy. I bought it at the height of the skyrocketing prices, when used cars were like gold. Lol. I had also sold my 2017 1SS A8 for a premium price, because of the same used car craziness. I got a thousand more for 2017 1SS, than I had purchased it new for back in 17. They were asking $52K for the Hot Wheels 50th, and I got it for $48K. It stickered for a little over $53K when new. It was well worth the price to me, based on the ridiculously low miles, the limited run of the Hot Wheels 50th Editions, and because I plan on keeping it until I can’t drive it anymore, hopefully 30 years plus from now. I put it small car shows, and everyone loves it. They draw attention, and kids LOVE it. Best car purchase I’ve ever made. I hope you pull the trigger if you think this is a solid car. Shoot me any questions you may have, and I’ll help if I can! Good luck 🍀
