Also, if your headers are not coated, then get heat resistant boots for your plug wires.

Second this. ^^^

I might start a thread to ask who regrets doing headers. I regret them.
But, if you do them, take the extra time and $ and ceramic coat them. Esp if you ever plan to track.

What do you regret about them? Thinking of doing them on mine.

It's a matter of sound level preference and smell I suppose.

And it's not cheap. I had them ceramic coated. And I'm too old to install them while on jack stands in the garage so paid to have them installed.

Some folks want their car louder, and that is fine - to each their own. Or don't care about the smell difference. I'm just not one of them. If I was to do this over, I probably wouldn't change the stock exhaust. Given what it all cost.
YMMV

Understood - depends on use I think. During 20-30 minute track sessions, you can generate a lot of heat under hood. Heat is an enemy, so I went with the coating. Seems to help, but have no measurements or data myself. Just a "belt and suspenders" approach for me....

Mind if I ask what you paid for the install?

Since the headers put out a lot of extreme heat underneath the hood, is there a particular starter that can withstand the heat better than the stock ones?

Ok I see, so that would be roughly about 490ish HP at the crank up from the stock 455hp, assuming its just headers, CAI, and tune.

I was curious myself if powermaster made one but they don't. I do see that Phastek has heat shields that can wrap the starter though.

If you ceramic coat your headers, you shouldn't have any starter issues. I installed all of the mods in my signature around 25k miles ago. The only heat related issue I have experienced is one melted MSD plug wire. I have around 20 full-day track sessions with these mods

Agree 100%. I’ll never run headers that are not ceramic coated. Been 4 years here with coated headers and no starter issues. Granted, I never drive the car. But still.
