Unhappy New Clutch Pedal needed [Reposted]

Reposting from 10-03-2023, 03:08 PM.

I need help, and if anyone is having a similar issue we can file a legal case together

Quote:
My 2SS 1LE is in need of a new clutch pedal. I was simply driving and noticed a sudden “thunk” noise. The auto rev match stopped working immediately. When I pulled over to check, I noticed the clutch pedal was extremely loose. The car couldn’t detect the clutch Input any more and so the car could not start.

After towing the car and having the dealership do a multi-inspection they said they need to order a new part. GM Part # 85526226

Sadly the dealership hasn’t been able to get the part in yet, they submitted a SPAC case and everything but still no luck. The Camaro has been sitting at the shop now for over a month now [(5-6 months now)] and am at a loss of what I can do.

Any help would be appreciated

For some additional context i have been in contact with chevrolet/gm directly with customercare@chevrolet.com and have a case number, but that doesnt seem to have made the process any quicker.

Is there no cross-compatibility with other part numbers? I would think much of the clutch assembly would be shared. Perhaps the mounting brackets are model-specific, but maybe you could shift over bits from a different part number.

Lemon law probably applies if you want to go that route, something like 30 days in the shop in the first year, supply constraints be dammed (especially considering they kept making cars with that part). Also the lemon law has a fee shifting statute so the manufacturer has to pay your legal bills. Find one in your area, they can do a free consultation and tell you if you have a case and if you do they will probably take it on contingency meaning they don't get paid unless you "win" and then it comes out of the manufacturers pocket, not yours. At best the threat of a lawsuit may get the pencil pushers to say its cheaper to just find/ship a part then buying back the car.

There is one up on ebay which says it was pulled from a 2023 SS 1LE with only 280 miles. You've got 30 day returns.

Have you checked with any of the used part people who specialize in muscle type cars?
https://leecparts.com/ comes to mind. I would call them and if they cant help you ask for other places to check.

That specific part number does not come up anywhere.
I think he's going to have to buy something close and swap some bits over from his old unit to make something compatible.
here is the specific part:
https://www.oempartsnow.com/oem-part...pedal-85526226

Compared to the ebay listing, this looks extremely close. Even the electrical connection looks the same. Maybe the hydraulic hose is different. As long as the bracket mounts to the car, it looks like everything could be swapped.
For $150 I would jump on this.

It might be helpful to know exactly what failed on his original unit. "Loose pedal" sounds like hinge or return spring, but I would ask.

I just looked real closely at the ebay listing. All those bits (pedals, sensors, hydraulics) just bolt to the bracket. I bet the bracket is the only part that is specific to the 2023 SS 1LE. All the clutch pedal subassemblies are probably the same.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the lemon law only applies if a repair has already been done on the car… my car hasn’t been worked on yet since the part hasn’t arrived.

5-6 months and they can’t source a silly clutch pedal from GM????

My inner hunch suggests try Cadillac too - the CT5/6-V Blackwings are the same Alpha chassis as the Camaro, and you can get them in a 6 speed.
