I'm not condoning anything, just explaining what I meant by resources.
EV's dying as we speak.

True. All these japanese car companies were subsidized by US taxpayer dollars after ww2 which assisted them in not only rebuilding Japan and Germany but also helped build brand news state of the are more efficient manufacturing facilities to build not only cars but other products.

Also the early 70s Gas crises was fake. Gas went up at the same exact time as the Japanese were allowed to begin dumping small more efficient cars on US soil also at the same exact time the US was taken of the Gold standard. Not a coincidence. All linked and planned folks. And a perfect time for politicians, insiders, those in the know including the fake news media to make big investments in the foreign products. They made out like fat rats as they began a US Auto bashing campaign and brainwashing of US bad Japan/our investments good, and pumping up the value of their investments/foreign cars. Don't get me started on that history because that just the tip of the Iceberg. Ever noticed no one had a problem with American cars until the gas went up?

I'm not sad about it, I'm happy GM built such a capable car, I'm glad I was able to get a chance to experience it. No regrets, the world moves forward and there is no reason to be bitter.

The bitterness comes from the fact that there’s more than just market driven forces influencing this decision.

After the ‘73 oil crisis GM didn’t cancel the Camaro even though the CAFE standards kicked in and all cars were required to switch to unleaded. GM figured out a way to make it work even with detuned and smaller engines. Improve handling. Offer more options. Keep promoting it. By ‘79 the Z28 was almost half as fast as a ‘69 SS but it was selling like hotcakes.

GM didn’t just give up on it, they made it work.

Today this stupid company just gives up on everything if it’s not an SUV that nets $20,000 in profit margin.

Exactly.

Also, I'm sure a 2023 or 2024 ZL1 brings in more than $20K in profits per sale. The 2024 sticker and badge package was sold for $15K and couldn't have cost GM more than $1-2K extra, but even the stock ZL1 got a price bump almost every consecutive year for the exact same content it had in 2017 (apart from the rearview camera mirror), see the stock ZL1 (no options) MSRP progression below. MY 2024 costs nearly $11,000 more than MY 2017.
Code:
2017 $61,135
2018 $61,500
2019 $61,500
2020 $62,000
2021 $63,000
2022 $63,000
2023 $67,300
2024 $72,100

I cried all my tears when this happened in 2002, but not too bad since I had bought a 2000 SS.

Now I added a 2018 ZL1 vert as her stablemate, I will cry no more as both are forever cars now.

Dumbest thing Mary Barra ever did. If I was large and in charge the Camaro would always have a seat at the table.

Someone from the board with balls needs to stage a coup. Unless the entire BOD is castrated too.

You know the kind of people running GM when they first brought out the Camaro in 1967? Someone from one of the car magazines asked Chevy’s division manager at the time what a Camaro is.

He said it’s a rare breed of animal that specifically hunts and eats Mustangs.

Where’s that spirit today? Sadly long gone.

I feel like dealer markups have also had a hand in killing off some of their car lines. Years ago I was looking to buy a new cyclone gray GTO, and I found that the local dealer was marking up all of them ... I ended up buying a 2002 WS6 with 26k miles on it instead. Loved that car.

Personally, I think dealers killed that car, and others, with pure and simple greed.

Could be wrong.

That’s a good point. It probably contributes to it.

You don’t want to know what I think of dealers. I’d get blackkusted from this forum if I said exactly what I feel about all dealers and car salespeople, even the “best” ones. Frankly there’s no such thing.
