LSD and gears for ZL1
It would seem that Nitro Gear and Axle is offering a LSD for the ZL1 rear, this would or should mean SS guys could run the ZL1 stuff and toss out the ediff, mainly a drag race mod. The ZL1 is a 9.8 ring so it should be more than strong enough and much cheaper than a Ford 9" conversion:
https://nitro-gear.com/search-pl?fit...tment-Specific Interesting that the diff has bolts and the GM ring gear for a ZL1 is a weld in job, could it be that a bolt in ring is our future. 3.23 is the only gear offered and it is a OEM part. I'm going off the listing as 2013+ and it could be just sloppy marketing from them and this does not fit a 6th gen housing.

I don't think that's right. GM had listed e'LSDs at about 8.9" (226mm) in diameter... I hope I messed that up, and you're right, though. Grave Digger (5th Gen ZL1) rear was like a 9.9", but that was completely different, and GM claimed one was never broken, even with testing with pulleys and DRs on the strip.
I don't know that there have been that many failures, even at 1000+ HP.

Looks like they are just lazy on their listing them... bummer. I never did find the ring size of the 6th gen Zl1, 8.9", there is at least one guy with a V6 that supposedly has a ZL1 ediff working... maybe that is the route to go.

I actually bought that diff you are referring to but from speed master as nitro was unable to get it. It does not fit the sixth Gen stuff. Ring gear size different, width of pumpkin different….
Basically I now have a spare pumpkin for my fifth Gen Camaro haha. Refer to post about elsd options for pictures. |
