Again, I get what your saying but that isnt an accurate way to compare volume levels of exhausts. You can tell us exactly what computer you have and the exact speakers you are using and the exact volume level the computer needs to be on, and match all the EQ settings, and its still not going to represent a real life volume level of your exhaust in person.

I've probably seen every Borla/Camaro video on Youtube and it helps for sure, but nothing like hearing them in person.

Question for you guys with either the S-Type or ATAK, about how much louder than stock NPP on track mode would you say it is? 25%, 50%, etc. louder?

+1 here. Go Borla ATAK with NPP- axle back (assuming your car has NPP)
I have the Borla ATAK on my V6 Jeep, but have Corsa w/ NPP black tips on my Camaro.

Honestly, I'd be happy with a 25%-30% increase in sound from the stock NPP "track" mode. I was all set to order the S-Type, then saw posts from people claiming the ATAK axle back was not as loud as they were expecting. Claiming it was only about 25% louder than stock track mode. Still leaning towards the S-Type, just wish I could hear them in person.
I have the borla ATAK with Borla x-pipe. i love the sound and don't regret it. i do plan to get headers and such. that said most people so like the S because it isnt nearly as loud and has a lower tone. i like the raspy loud of ATAK which makes it almost race sounding like in my mind. i have a little take off clip where i mounted a wireless mic, to the back bumper and near the intake, used with my go pro. have a listen it might help some.

I am in the same boat as you in that I want more from the stock exhaust. I also don't think it is possible for me to listen to any more clips on line and I have finally decided to give up on that option.

I just bought my camaro and the only thing I don't like is that the exhaust is too quiet for me. I do a lot of track days so I have decided to wait until next year and then observe the various exhaust sounds of camaros at the track and then see what I like and what setup they are running.

My buddy has the borla type and he loves it. He said he bought the atak and it was much louder but in his opinion not in a good way and switched it out. He didn't like the tone of it. I won't be able to hear his borla type s until next year at a track event.

I was more commenting to say I feel your pain.

I just installed my Borla stype on my 2022 2SS I had the Non NPP exhaust single tips sounded like nothing changed the diffuser I have the quad tips and let me tell you the car seems lighter quicker and it is way louder just enough where its not too obnoxious but loud when you step on the gas it was an easy install the diffuser was a pain well after market crap but looks and sounds way nicer how anyone can want to go with the atak In my opinion I think it would ne to loud and raspy for me the S Type works for me its not the same as stock it is much louder maybe 4 X louder than Non NPP.

Definitely go with S-Type, best sound for a muscle car, deep low tone and not going to get you pulled over if you're worried about that, unless you go to a shop and have them put one together for you. The ATAK almost sounds like its trying to be a ricer. Sounds terrible in my opinion.

+1 for S-Type. I recently purchased a set but haven't gotten around to installing yet.

When i was all stock I put on an s-type. It sounded good at WOT and didn't have any drone. I'll admit, a few times I wish it was alittle louder.

Then... I modified the car and put headers/no cats on. Holy shit did the system wake up. Normal driving it still is great .. you can hear the radio and have a conversation. But under WOT. It's loud.

That being said, if I was NEVER going to do headers and ONLY going to do a catback/axleback... id prob go ATAK, just so its alittle louder....but I can't speak for the ATAK and how loud it is or if it has any rasp.

I'm currently running Kooks LTH with high flow cats. Soon to install the Kooks x-pipe with S-Type. Fingers crossed.

Since you are keeping the cats, while it will definitely get louder, imo it will probably be "just right" as far as sound goes.

Agreed, that's why I kept the cats. I didn't want to go obnoxiously loud. It'll still be very loud but it should have that deeper exhaust note that I'm looking for.

FWIW, I ended up going with the ATAK axle-back. Some of the comments I read while trying to decide mentioned the S-type was only a little louder than the stock NPP muffler. I wanted something noticeably louder under WOT, but similar to oem under normal driving. I am very happy with my choice. To me, just cruising or under light throttle, it sounds very similar to stock. Idling, it has a deep muscle car sound that sounds better than oem. Under WOT, I'd say it's maybe 30-50% louder. I'm not a young kid and I have sensitive hearing, and I don’t find it too loud at all.
