Some people detail their car as a way to relax and enjoy just 'working' on the car itself.

Washing, polishing and waxing and all that has been great, for me in the past, where I had more time to work on the car. But today, products are better, time is harder and harder to come by to spend on the car and keep it clean.

I have over the past 5 years, had a friend do the ceramic coating to my cars and it's a huge difference in cleaning/washing after the fact..much faster/quicker to get it clean.

This year we got a new 2023 ZL1 and I did my first ceramic coating myself (watched lots and lots of videos). I have used lots of Adams products in the past and familiar with how easy their products are to use and they work. I used Adams Graphine Ceramic coating and the car looks great. Now I can actually wash/clean and dry the car in about 15 minutes. I'll come back and hit the trim/tires in the garage and done. The car is still as slick/shiny as it was when the ceramic coating was applied. No more buffing, polishing, waxing...I don't have time for that and I enjoy having that time back to do other things on the car.

Thank goodness you have lots and lots of options on how you want to detail your car. Lots of great products on the market, and finding ones you enjoy and feel it gives you the best bang for the buck is going to be splitting hairs.

The gang on this forum can clean the heck out of their rides, none are wrong, but they all enjoying spending time with their babies. For me Ceramic coatings and the new graphine products are the newest and latest technology to keep that shine and protection longer.

What??? You got a new car? Dang I’ve been under a rock

Used to do the wash, wax, buff with a power buffer routine. Now use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating. Love the stuff, spray it on, buff it a bit with a dry cloth and your done. Best shine I have ever had on a car and that goes a long way back, easy peasy ! Prior to trying this new Turtle Wax product I used NuFinish.

I have that and the turtle wax ceramic shampoo, it's pretty close in effect and quality to the Adams Graphene shampoo and qd spray, and the carpro products are also pretty similar as well. Lots of good products these days, you really don't have to wax unless you like to.

Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax = best bang for the buck one-step hydrophobic spray, $20 blue bottle available everywhere. Can be used on a wet car during rinse before drying. You won't find a better product for the money.

Carpro Reload = My go-to detail spray. Great hydrophobic properties (lasts 8-10 weeks with garaged daily driver use). Easy to apply, and can also be applied to the paint when drying. Leaves a nice waxy shine. If your car already has a hydrophobic coating or hydrophobic-PPF, then dilute it 4:1 with distilled water to reduce streaking.

Tips:
  • Never spray the car direclty (overspray sucks!). In the case of MHCW, they may instruct you to spray the car directly (and that's okay if you're doing the spray-on-rinse-off method). But otherwise when dealing with a dry car, always spray the rag first while pointing away from the car, then wipe the car.
  • With most modern detail products, the "easy off" is a high pH stripping soap like Dawn dish detergent.
  • To wash the car without stripping the coating, use a "coating safe" pH balanced soap like Adams Car Shampoo or Carpro Reset.

Polish / paint-correction is the key step I would focus on. After that, it doesnt matter what you use turtle wax seal & shine, meguiars HCW, etc.
I dont do ceramic coatings any more since I leave my camaro outside the garage 80% of the time (other nicer cars inside ) and the water drops in humid climes, play havoc with ceramic coatings.

I am a firm believer in the Jescar and Collinite combo. Have it on all my cars except for my daily driver which just gets the turtle wax ceramic spray

I use this combo on my daily as it does see some UV exposure and winter elements. The two give you at minimum in harsh conditions at least 6 months of protection.

3d Speed is a good all in one but because it has polish and Montan wax (different than carnuba) it does not have the same longevity. Still very good with impeccable gloss and very user friendly for light correction and protection. If your vehicle doesn't see harsh conditions (extreme Africa like sun exposure/winter/salt/touchless auto car wash) I would recommend 3D speed. If you do not need any paint correction and and want strong protection than Jescar and Collinite are a better suited combo.

All are very good products that suit different needs.

Turtle Wax has come out with some impressive stuff lately. I cleaned and clay towel'd (P&S brand) our 2018 Escape. Applied the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Flex Wax. Very impressive results, had a couple people remark about how clean and shiny it is. Super easy to apply and very hydrophobic. Two sprays per panel, push it around (level it) and then lightly buff off. You can use it as a topper or drying agent when you wash it, by just spraying it on the wet paint and rinsing it off with the pressure washer.
