Any ACE Hardware or TrueValue should have these in the aisle with the little drawers.

When I used to do car stereo installs 20 years ago one of the things I always tried to look for when I was working on a car was an easy way to run the main power cable from the battery (when they were all under the hood except BMW), through the firewall, to the trunk. The one thing I always hated to do was drill through anyone's firewall and I'd always leave that as a last resort and make sure the customer knew I was doing it and was ok with it.

That hole for the sound tube would be PERFECT for running the cable. I'd have been doing the happy dance whenever I had a car that had such a perfect placement of a nice, large, pre-drilled hole.

I have an Ace nearby. I might stop by there later. The one from Caplug won't arrive for several days.

That is so true. Today's cars are much more difficult to run wire thru the firewall. Years ago, like back in the 70's, you could easily squeeze them through the huge steering column grommet.

That looks like the hillman plug with a plastic clamp. I pried the stock metal clamp by twisting screwdriver until I could remove sound tube. Then recrimped it with diagonal pliers once plug was in place.
Amazon kit looks like they discard the stock clamp.

My local Ace hardware didn't stock the Hillman brand. I looked on Amazon and found the exact ones from China. It fits nice and snug. I didn't like the ugly stock clamp so I got rid of it. Looks neater without it, IMO.

+1 for the hardware store $2 sound tube delete kit. For the firewall, I just dremel’d the end of the sound tube where it attaches and slapped the 2nd 1” cap in the hole. It’ll suffice until (and IF) I go aftermarket intake

I used the 1" plug with a small dab of black RTV. Just enough to hold it there in case I ever want to pop it off and run something through the firewall.

What’s odd is I have read these threads numerous times and was ready to pick a delete kit. But when I received my 24 2SS, it didn’t have a sound tube. There is already a delete plug on the intake and the firewall. I was under the impression this was a norm not and option so I was surprised to see that. Educate me please

I believe they stopped including the sound tubes on the 2020 and newer 2SS's.
