Revving Engine Q

2023 Camaro SS w/1LE

Is it okay to rev the engine, after it is warmed up, while sitting in neutral at a stop?

(manual transmission>vehicle is in neutral).

I did not get above 3K RPM..

So long at it’s up to running temperature yes, but within reason. You want to blip the throttle a few times to impress your friends? No problem. Want to tach it up to 5k and drop the clutch off the line? That’s what this car is meant for.

But do not just sit there and keep reving it up and down for an extended period of time without driving it off. That’s how things happen to engines.

That puts stress and unnecessary wear and tear on your engine. Plus, the oil in your car isn't warm yet either. If your oil isn't warm, it doesn't flow well. That forces more stress on your car to warm up AND move that oil efficiently.

Revving your V8 in 2023 is not allowed and frowned upon. That’s why there’s a rev limiter to stop you from engaging in this uncivil practice. Put your car in a museum and buy a ****ing electric car

Exactly.

It was designed and built to be 'beat on', but only after things are up to operating temps.

Could something break? Yep, but it's rare. I remember when the '16s came out a few people with shiny new SS's snapped some half shafts doing burnouts and launches, but they got fixed pretty quickly and it's something you generally don't see.

Enjoy!

Seriously? Revving the engine (after its warmed up) is not going to hurt anything.
Put er in track mode and stomp on the throttle

To bad my car wasn't made to use performance shift mode 3 times in a row without locking up the engine.

The climate Nazis say no. You have to use the government provided electric rail system, comrade!

Revving an engine there is no load on the motor, doesnt affect anything as long as its not fridgid cold and you holding it at 6500RPM.
