You won’t have to wait that long. Unless there’s an unexpected deal made in the next day-and-a-half (Ford is most likely), tune in at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time tomorrow (Thursday) night for the strike announcement.

Now that you mention it, I do recall reading something similar. To darn optimistic and selective reading on my part. My Accord got stolen over the weekend with no sign of it yet. Busing it to work and back, so REALLY (stupid?) impatient for my Camaro!

I heard on the news today that if they strike it would be a partial strike, meaning not all plants would have to strike at once?

I heard that as well. Maybe a targeted strike. I guess we will know shortly.

Did they say if they meant by “not all” it would only be 1 OEM, not all 3? Or, parts of each OEM? My belief in the statement from the news would be that one OWM would strike while the other 2 do not

OEMs being discussed for surgical bottlenecking is Romulus Powertrain as mentioned earlier, Stallantis's Kokomo Transmission Plant producing gearboxes for Jeep, Dodge, and Ram. A Jeep engine plant in Dundee MI was also mentioned. At Ford it's Livoria Transmission in MI. It's a high-volume gearbox producer for the F-150. Lima Engine, and Cleveland Engine for the most strategically placed chokeholds.

Fain seems to want to play the long game, without depleting the coffers. We might be in for a LOOONG ride. A ride that is sure to make all of us sick and vomit all over

I suspect that if a single plant was targeted, it wouldn't take very long for others to be affected and shut down.

At this point it may be a layoff for those affected, and would be curious to know if unemployment benefits would kick in or not (with the appropriate delay)

The key part that the UAW doesn't want to talk about is their complete failure to unionize other automakers. If the big 3 wants to compete with Tesla, why hasn't the UAW signed up Tesla? If Ford has to pay it's employees twice what they make at Tesla, how do they compete against the cybertruck with the E-F150? If the UAW really wants these big numbers, they need the whole industry to buy in. They get them to do that by getting them all unionized.

It's always doom and gloom when the real workers demand their fairer share while the executives get huge raises as the record profits come pouring in, then the company wants to cry: We can't afford workers' raises and remain competitive
Complete BS coming from a company overcharging on every model.

I work at Romulus powertrain. We will find out at 10pm tonight. Currently we are scheduled go run production Saturday and Sunday. Have to wait and see.

The UAW's failure to significantly expand their numbers just proves how effective right work laws are.

As far as Tesla goes, let's just say that Musk and Henry Ford (the 1st) probably would have been bosom buddies with regard to unions. Musk uses the modern (translates as legal) versions of leg breakers and head busters to keep unions out of his plants. I'm surprised he hasn't relocated all of his operations to right to work states to save him the headaches.

It looks like GM came back with another counterproposal and is at a 20% wage increase with Stellantis at 17.5%. Hopefully this keeps GM out of the crosshairs more than Ford and Stellantis!

An official at Ford told the news that Michigan workers aren’t eligible for unemployment benefits if their plant is idled due to parts shortages caused by a strike. If this is true it might affect the union’s decision and they might strategically leave the plants there in production to preserve more of their strike funds.
