Used an 87mm soler tb for a while, ran into a similar issue. Mike replaced it free of charge, including shipping, and it ran perfect after the unit was replaced. No problems after that, replaced it with a NW 103mm about 6 months later when I went ported blower.

NW is the most widely used and also the least amount of problems. If you or anyone is planning on any type of porting in future I would just go with the Nick Williams units. There’s a reason why it’s the most popular

This is true. I have first hand experience. My car didn't like any of the three. Is it their fault no, not at all. It's not their fault my car is a picky car. But their customer service will gain and/or keep a customer. Mamo and Soler have great customer service when I had my issues. I don't know about Katech and since it was the last one I tried, I didn't bother to reach out since I knew what the car was doing with the others.

For me - Katech PTB + Green Filter has been perfect from day 1. I have 17k miles on this setup with thankfully no CEL.

What I can tell you from experience is, is that we had a ZL1, with a SUPER-aggressive ported 95 (knife-edged blade; cut-shaft; smoothed mouth [not into the idle and low-speed areas though]; etc.) that was a bit of a shit to tune for idle. After getting the torque tables adjusted appropriately, we got it idling well. Then, we put a Soler 103/107 on there, ran the relearn procedure they outline, and the car didn't miss a beat. I don't know if we didn't have problems because we tooned them out with the ported-95, but sometimes you just have to toon a little more for some cars. Ported 87s might not need that kind of tuning.

Well damn, I just bought the Soler 95+ TB w/ 95-87 adapter plate and the RotoFab Big Gulp for my ZL1. It will also be getting the DSX Flex Fuel and Kooks headers so it will need a tune obviously. Hopefully they can tune any issues out for the TB

+1 for Soler. We switched to Soler TB's exclusively after having so many of thew Nick Williams start failing out of nowhere. I've tested the Soler 103's and 107's vs the NW 103's. That extra 4mm eff area of the 107 makes a difference on tip in and near redline.
I heard that Nick Williams actually passed away and someone else is running the business now. Not sure of the accuracy of either as I didn't look into it. As for the codes, it is an airflow correlation code. ECU's seem a little more strict lately. Fortunately it can easily be tuned out for those of you who are going to be tuning. Just increase the correlation variance allowed. Last edited by Megahurtz; 03-21-2024 at 07:50 AM. |

Just a follow up. I sent in my NW 103 yesterday. Someone named Nick called me today and said they were shipping the fixed unit back to me. Not sure it was the original Nick Williams, but they acknowledged that there have been issues and are trying to correct them. With that said, I'm going to order the Soler 103 to have ready to go. If anybody is looking for the contact info. Williams Performance 3140 Corriher Grange Rd. Mount Ulla, NC 28125 Phone: 704-433-1428 |
