Brother. I say this with respect, but let me try and zero in on the basis of this thread. You are willing to drop (most likely without a doubt) tens of thousands of dollars on a while new engine block and it's respective mating assemblies, but you are unwilling to spend a few hundred on inspecting current engine integrity which could potentially save you from spending those tens of thousands and keep you within the thousands for a potential rebuild of what may very well be a still intact engine block?

It's your money at the end of the day, I'm just trying to help you see the bigger picture here as you and I both know very well that the money you save if things are still okay can be used towards other larger and more fruitful projects.

Dannnggggg sorry to hear it was you man. The log didn't show anything troubling until it popped. I suspect the issue was mechanical vs the tune. You going to have Arash do the new build?

Well actually the engine build is only if the current engine is bad. It will be inspected first to see what happened and how it happened and why it happened first. The we will see what's salvageable and what isn't. The built engine is there only if I can't reuse my current block

L8T block (for future proofing)
400 Cubic inches
10.5:1 compression
Forged rotating assembly (callies crank and rods, diamond pistons)

Plan for the car is stock blower for now but going to a 2650 in the future
My new build consists of this;

-new lt8 iron block
custom diamond 10.5:1 pistons with AP total seal rings
-callies magnum 3.622 stroke crank(8ccw)(DUAL KEY WAY)
-c5r timing chain
-dual key the current ati hub
-callies ultra enforcer rods 6.125"
-ACL rod/main bearings
-Oil Squirter Plugs
-Mill heads .006
-ARP main studs
-LMP custom blower cam
240/258 118+4 LSA 365/360 LOBE LIFT
-johnson solid lifters
-COMETIC MLX head gaskets

Just now finally getting to drive it around, seems stout! I can tell you that L8T block weighs 200lbs more than the 6.2 aluminum block! Scales dont lie!
Have a track rental scheduled for October 20th so I will know how fast it really is!

I am curious to see if it was the good ole thrust bearing that caused this! Was on mine but I had a few more mods than you...

Understood. I just wanted to make sure that that avenue was one you had considered already. Personally. It sounds like the block is just fine, but testing always tells you the final story.

Yes sir. For sure want to find out what happened first. Will keep this thread updated but should know by Monday. I think I either dropped an exhaust valve or spun a thrust bearing

***********UPDATE**********
So took the engine out only to find a piece of the exhaust valve head in the exhaust port where the headers flange is.

Sounds like an engine build issue since you swapped the cam

Only thing in the heads that was changed was the springs, pushrods, and lifters. The head was un ported and the valves were factory

Correct but if the wrong length pushrods were used, it could have caused a valve to come in contact with the piston or were you saying that a piece of the actual head broke off? If so that would be Extremely rare and that would be a casting defect.
