GM - Come on ! A piece of cheap square foam....

OK this bugs me EVERYTIME I pop the hood ! Is there anything to replace it with that looks, well more "like" a car part!!! That's like the moment my buddy said " you can fix everything with duct tape" !!

I mean no disrespect, but seriously, does this really bother you?

That is so minuscule in the grand scheme of things.

My ZL1 is from the first production run in October of 2016. There was never a little foam piece in the engine bay like you have.

It must have been added in later production runs because I've seen the foam on other ZL1s.

Yours (ours) have it on the solenoid that was eliminated in the last couple of years. Look behind the diaphragm and find the solenoid that is plugged into the line that runs across the clean side separator. It has the foam filter/cap.

You'll see his doesn't have that electrical wire, either.

You rip that piece of foam off and the engine blows, don't come crying to us. We told you so!

Mine has it. It looks like a filter for a diaphragm actuator that takes in air. I would NOT remove it.

It's actually the stock lid. I sent it to a company called Exotic CarGear. They cut off all the splines around the perimeter and smoothed the top then skinned it in carbon fiber.

Here's a close-up photo of the CF skinned lid and a before photo my engine bay to give you a comparison.
