Noticing scratches on hood/trunk stripes when I wipe off car. Looking for any info/guidance on how to clean them without scratching.

I used this method on my 2010 SS RJT with matte black factory vinyl stripes but you might look on Adams website as some of their products may have changed.

From what I was told when I had my strips done, there is no way to buff out the plastic or vinyl as most call it. But then that was 2 years ago. Things change by the minute..

if its a matte stripe you cannot buff it unless you want glossy stripes.
best thing you could try is a hairdryer to heat it up to see if it lessens the scratches. if not use a product like solution finish that will coat them and darken them and help hide the scratches. plus the stuff last for about 8months.

Anyone use the VRT product that is mentioned in the video?? I was thinking about using it on the vinyl hood wrap on my 1LE. Currently using some Chemical Guys matte cleaner, but I sort of like the more glossy and darker look as portrayed in the video when he used the product on the vinyl stripe.

Adams VRT is a very good product, I’ve used it on the trim on my Wife’s Grand Cherokee for years and I use it on the SS motor.

Remember The Museum Rule: The less you touch a thing, the longer it lasts.

Vinyl is soft and VERY easy to scratch as you have learned. Any tiny bits of grit will make swirls and scratches. So to avoid that, clean without contact. No wiping, no dragging rags, no feather dusters. Just a foam cannon and pressure washer.

To make it easier/better/more effective to clean without contact, put a durable hydrophobic coating on the car (Gtechniq EXO or similar). Lower surface energy means things don't stick to it. The less dirt sticks to the car, the easier it is to get it back off the car.

i have never scratched any vinyl washing my car. Maybe need to look in how you wash your car.
Proper technique and proper products will never scratch it

Yes that's what we are helping the OP with... examples of techniques and products. Something your post unfortunately lacks. Perhaps you too can share your techniques and products and help the OP.

Please teach us, senpai!
