I paid 12% interest on my mortgage in 1989. Not unprecedented.

The difference being the cost of a house relative to the median household income back then.

Called a local CU that I've dealt with in the past...

5.75 for 36 months. Far better than what GM Financial is offering and actually not that far away from my savings account interest. Might actually be ok to carry that loan even though the payment would be like $1350. It almost washes against writing a really big check today except that I don't tear into my savings so hard.

Additionally, for the -best- deal, you have to buy from the dealer that the vehicle was originally delivered to - no dealer swaps. That means that I have to go form a relationship with a dealer I don't have one with already... Don't have the time or energy for that just to still overpay.

yea i was lucky i was able to find what i wanted at my local dealership 2023 rst 2wd 5.3 black with black wheels and ended up getting it for $5k off sticker no upcharges and some extra goodies they threw in

At risk of responding to the subject of the thread title and original post, I’ll respond to your quote of me.

That’s exactly what I’ll do, if things improve. Another option I have is to borrow money against one if my other vehicles that’s already paid off, if that’s more favorable. I’m buying now because the window to buy a new Camaro optioned how I want is closing quickly. Otherwise, I would wait.

For those of us who want a big engine and a manual transmission, it’s down to the Mustang. The Dark Horse is just too damn much money (I couldn’t find a new Mach1 optioned how I wanted, not making that mistake again).

Who wants to crash a dark horse? Because you can’t even steer it?
